MEGHAN Markle should become a politician because she is a “diplomat” and an “ambassador”, says one of her former Suits co-stars.

Erika Alexander, 54, who starred alongside the Duchess of Sussex in the legal series, believes Meghan, 42, has the courage to take on big causes, after speaking out against the Royal Family in recent years.

She said Meghan has the voice, motivation and experience to become a senator – because she has been “an activist” throughout her life.

It comes as Meghan launches her lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard, sending baskets of jam and lemons to influencers.

Asked whether Meghan could be a future political leader of this country, Erika told The Sun: “I think so. I think she was doing this before she got engaged.

“She was doing great work as an activist and I think she would be a great senator.

“She would certainly be a great Congressional person, and I think it’s a great way to represent not only America and the world, when I say her person, but also Great Britain.

The actress then declared: “Run, run, I’m going to do this campaign and we’re going to solve this. Do you hear me? We’re going to have a lot of fun and we’re going to wear a pretty tiara the whole time.”

It turns out that Meghan and Harry returned to Los Angeles after completing a trip through Nigeria.

The Sussexes visited a war zone, played volleyball, and even stood up for God Save The King.

But the trip to the African nation was described as “presidential” by many.

Meghan and Harry were always accompanied by a White House-style security team and AK-47-wielding members of the local militia.

The couple also had their own smaller security team and several female aides in shift dresses.

Journalist Ian Gallagher, writing in a Daily Mail column, said: “Whatever the true appearance of this fascinating trip – private, non-royal, quasi-royal, presidential – one thing was certain.

“It was controlled skillfully and with an iron fist.”

Meghan Markle: from royalty to politics?

According to Gallagher, Meghan came across as a “secure global stateswoman in her own right,” noting that it was suggested by a source two years ago that “it wouldn’t be a big shock if Meghan entered politics.”

While the idea that the Duchess would one day like to run for president is speculation, the journalist suggested it wouldn’t be “such a wild leap.”

In an exclusive interview, Erika, who starred in The Cosby Show and the Oscar-winning film Get Out, praised the Duchess and her husband Prince Harry for challenging the Royal Family during their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

And she believes that this will not prevent her from becoming a senator.

Meghan claimed she was “fed to wolves,” bullied and silenced before she and Harry made the decision to leave the Royal Family and move away from England.

An expert’s view of the tour

Newsweek’s chief royal correspondent, Jack Royston, claims that Harry and Meghan treated the trip as a royal trip, despite it technically being a “private” visit.

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive programme, Mr Royston said: “It’s not a private trip.

“I mean, it’s so funny because even that announcement was made at a press conference with ‘welcome the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ in the background and a big board.

“It’s a little confusing in terms of how they presented it.

“But essentially no, it’s not a private trip, it’s very much like an old-school real trip, except for the fact that obviously they didn’t invite, in general, the media at large.”

This is Harry and Meghan’s first trip to Nigeria as a couple, although they did go on a royal tour to southern Africa in 2019 when they were working royals.

They stepped down from royal duties and moved across the pond in 2020 – with their departure dubbed ‘Megxit’.

Erika compared the scrutiny and attention on Meghan’s life to that of “people like Michael Jackson.”

“She’s also a diplomat and ambassador, so I think she should consider herself that way,” Erika said.

“I’ve done a lot of activism in my life and that’s why I said sometimes things that you would do for yourself, you wouldn’t do on the other side of it.

“So I think she’s behaving really well, and I think it’s also important that she stays herself and really starts to stand up for herself as an individual so she doesn’t get overwhelmed because this is heavy.

“I went to look at Buckingham Palace, that stone thing has been there for a long time.

“She won’t knock it over, but it needs to be shaken every now and then to wonder what it is.

“And I think because Britain is such a big part of the world, she needs to understand that with this ebb and flow, there will be new challenges and she is a challenge and I think she is prepared for that.”

REAL RACING LINE

Erika also reflected on Meghan and Harry, revealing that a member of the Royal Family asked about Archie’s skin color before he was born during the interview with Winfrey.

“There is no one in this world who is not biased,” Erika said.

“I’m not surprised that it was brought up and maybe it wasn’t brought up to me or intended to be something that was hurtful, but it was mentioned and these issues are brought up to black people all the time.

“Certainly here in America we fight and have these conversations all the time, but they don’t have to be with spite.

“They don’t have to be like that. But bringing this to light means there is something to be talked about and now there will be the black babies in that palace and maybe they have always been there but now they have the family name and we need to have these discussions for these babies to grow up. so they know how to move forward.”

Erika also talked about how Meghan played an important role in Suits becoming the most-watched TV series in its history.

STAR POWER

She said, “Of course. Meghan Markle, of course, brings star power to this.

“She’s now a duchess, a princess, and that’s a great story. It’s a great story from London and the Royal Family to America, which is fascinated by the Royal Family, has always been fascinated by royalty and kings and queens.

“Obviously, being a young black woman, I’m happy for her. She’s an actress, so this just shows that before she was a princess, she was an actress.”

“She [Meghan] He would certainly be a great congressman, and I think it’s a great way to represent not only America and the world… but also Great Britain.

Erika Alexandre

Erika, who starred as Sarah Leighton in the 2012 series Suits, would also like to see Meghan return as Rachel Zane in the new Suits LA spin-off.

“She has to think about her wider family… I hope she makes the right decision for herself and her family,” she said.

“That’s all that matters, and I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes, but as an actress, of course, you should come back because you’re doing really well and you’re looking great, and it would be really amazing to see you leave. there. But she is a different person now.”

Erika spoke on the Writers Guild Of America West Awards red carpet and praised the guild for fighting for its members and getting “what they deserve in terms of profit sharing.”
