HARRY and Meghan’s wedding was “too good to be true”, a royal expert has said.

The Sussexes will celebrate six years since their wedding at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, on Sunday.

But royal editor Ingrid Seward detailed how the couple’s “Disneyesque” wedding made the public initially love the Sussexes before opinion soured.

She told The Sun: “We loved them for a while and then we didn’t. Lots of complaints. But they were in love and that mattered.

“Until they left and then they didn’t matter anymore. They let the Queen down. They let the Prince of Wales down, they let William down and then the Duke of Cornwall.

“They let us down. Harry was stoic. He loved his California lifestyle. He loved his wife and children.

“But he was resentful of everything he had left behind, including his brother, his father and his sister-in-law, Kate.”

It comes just days after they returned to Los Angeles from a “fake royal tour” of Nigeria.

It was their first trip to the country as a couple, although they completed a trip to southern Africa in 2019 before stepping back from royal duties the following year.

The decision to live in royal exile was an extraordinary step in an eventful six years of marriage.

The Sussexes were stripped of their titles and honorary positions before moving to Montecito, California, where they now live in a $14 million mansion.

Ingrid, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, added: “If success can be judged by money. Harry’s life is a success.

Wills’ new role appears deliberately timed to antagonize Harry, says royal expert

“As a husband and father, he has done brilliantly. And when he and Meghan celebrate their sixth anniversary on Sunday (today), they’ll be patting each other on the back.

“People said it wouldn’t last and it did! Harry is no longer celebrated in his homeland as he once was. In fact, they feel sorry for him.

“I don’t think Harry can see that. He’s happy in his rarefied world
with Meghan doing what they do. It can last a long time – and I think
go.”

His comments were echoed by royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, who said Harry and Meghan look “very well-matched” on the outside.

But he highlighted how the Sussexes “can always do the unexpected” – an attitude that can be unpleasant.

Fitzwilliams told The Sun: “All I can say is that the optics [of their marriage] From what I can see, it looks fine.

“The two seem very well matched now, whether that is a favorable comment or not depends, of course, on your opinion of them.

“They have their fans. Now they also have some activities, and Megan is launching American Riviera Orchard.

“And, of course, she has a show she’s doing for Netflix and Cochrane Entertainments, and so on.

“Harry, with his Polo series. The trip to Nigeria, which as a private visit, certainly had the makings of a kind of pro-royal trip, but it went well.

“There’s no reason why that can’t happen – what they want to do in the coming weeks and months – that’s another question.”

Fitzwilliams also highlighted how no working royals attended Harry’s Invictus ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral earlier this month.

He added: “Harry, of course, had his commemorative service at St Paul’s, celebrating 10 years of Invictus.

“It means a lot that the Spensers showed support for him by attending.

He was bitter about everything he had left behind, including his brother, his father, and his sister-in-law, Kate.

“No other members of the royal family showed up – whether they were invited or not is another matter.

“But the facts are – don’t underestimate the Sussexes – because they can always do the unexpected, whether that would be a nice thing to do or not is another question.

“But as far as their marriage is concerned, certainly as far as any public view is concerned, it seems to me that they seem very happily married.”

Harry and Meghan described their trip to Nigeria as “unforgettable” and expressed their “deepest gratitude” for the hospitality they received.

But the statement came in the context of a “delinquency” dispute at the Archewell Foundation.

The charity was reportedly ordered to stop raising money after failing to submit records – and pay a bill.

But he later insisted it is “fully compatible”.

Sussex ‘trying to rival the royal family’

By Sarah Grealish and Matt Wilkinson

PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle are desperately trying to be rivals of the royal family to save their image, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have just returned to the US after a three-day trip to Nigeria.

The Sussexes kicked off their “faux royal tour” with a visit to Lightway Academy, a primary and secondary school in the capital.

They then visited Nigeria’s defense headquarters on Friday to meet military wives and senior officials.

The following day, Harry was spotted playing volleyball, before Meghan referred to Nigeria as “my country”.

Many royal fans were quick to point out the similarities between the trip and an official royal trip.

And now a royal expert says he believes “an alternative royal family is emerging.”

Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive with Matt Wilkinson, Gareth Russell said: “To all intents and purposes, that is a real possibility.

“The problem for the Sussexes is that when you start doing something like this, people become much more critical of what you do outside of it – like business ventures or quasi-royal travel.

“People are going to put them under a microscope because they’re calling it ‘Harry and Meghan’s Office.’

“It’s interesting. I wonder if this is part of a plan to move away from some of the harsh headlines they’ve had over the last couple of years?

“Will it perhaps be a slightly more socially conservative direction and consider themselves royals in exile for lack of a better word?

“What I wonder is whether they are acting on the advice that people don’t want to hear them criticizing the royal family.”

Russell now believes Harry and Meghan may be planning more “fake royal trips” – including around the US.

He explained: “Their popularity at the moment is very low in America, but that could change.

“Public opinion is always a kind of rollercoaster.

“But they absolutely could (tour the US) and there are indications that they will.”

A statement added: “We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that the Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing.

“Payments due were made promptly and in accordance with IRS processes and procedures.

“In addition, all necessary documentation was completed by the Foundation without errors or irregularities.”

And now Harry has hinted at more “fake real” tours following the Nigeria trip.

During the trip, Meghan said Nigeria is “my country,” while Harry said “there’s only so much” he and his wife can do “over Zoom.”

The duke told PEOPLE magazine: “We’re looking forward to traveling more because the work is important.

“Whether it’s the Archewell Foundation, Invictus or any of our other causes, there will always be reasons to get to know the people at the heart of our work.”

During the trip, the Sussexes were greeted by traditional dancers and met some elementary school students.

The prince also met injured Nigerian soldiers in the northwest of the country during the three-day visit.
