PRINCE Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day was “miserable”, The Sun’s royal photographer says.

Arthur Edwards spoke on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show and claimed the wedding was one of the “worst” royal events he has ever been to.

He recalled the glitzy affair at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on May 19, 2018 – and how he “couldn’t get out of Windsor fast enough”.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson, Mr Edwards said: “I was there and I hated that day, it was a horrible day.

He was angry and I felt like we were punished for it

“I can say now that it was the worst royal engagement I’ve ever had, the worst royal wedding I’ve ever been to, because Harry was determined to keep the newspapers out of it as much as possible.

“Everything was done with long lenses. It was useless. And when they passed in the carriage, they moved away from me.

“I felt it was deliberate, with the British press, in many ways, they were mistreated.

“Harry was angry with us because of what was said about Meghan.

“Some of the things were very tough. Some were quite unfair.

“He was angry and I felt like we were punished for that.

“I’ve done some really lovely royal weddings, I’ve done Charles, William, Andrew, Sophie and Edward.

“But in this case, I couldn’t get out of Windsor fast enough.”

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

It comes after Harry and Meghan celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary.

Speaking to Fabulous, the editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, Ingrid Seward, said that the Duke of Sussex may have presented Meghan with a piece of jewelry for the occasion.

She said, “I’m sure he’ll buy her a little piece of jewelry.”

The expert also believes that the couple may have celebrated this year in a discreet way.

As far as their marriage is concerned, certainly as far as any public view is concerned, it seems to me that they seem very happily married.

“I think Meghan will still want to make a big deal out of it because there is a lot of focus on the state of their marriage,” Ingrid added.

“I don’t think they would do anything in public, but I would have thought that in private they might just make some sort of romantic gesture towards each other.

“Harry is very, very in love with Meghan.

“Regardless of what we say about him, he loves her very much and I think he would want to do anything to make her happy.”

‘WELL MATCHED’

Meanwhile, fellow royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said the Duke and Duchess appear to be equals.

He told The Sun: “All I can say is that the optics [of their marriage] From what I can see, it looks fine.

“The two seem very well matched now, whether that is a favorable comment or not depends, of course, on your opinion of them.

“They have their fans. Now they also have some activities, and Megan is launching American Riviera Orchard.

“And, of course, she has a show she’s doing for Netflix and Cochrane Entertainments, and so on.

“Harry, with his Polo series. The trip to Nigeria, which as a private visit, certainly had the makings of a kind of pro-royal trip, but it went well.

“As far as their marriage is concerned, certainly as far as any public view is concerned, it seems to me that they seem very happily married.”

ROYAL WEDDING

Meghan and Harry married on May 19, 2018 in front of 600 guests at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.

The occasion is estimated to have cost £32 million – covering everything from the cost of security and catering to Meghan’s stunning dress.

Watching was a star-studded crowd, including the Clooneys, the Beckhams and Elton John – who performed at the lunchtime reception.

A gospel choir sang American soul singer Ben E. King’s 1960s hit Stand By Me for the couple, who had already received their new titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

And later they were able to meet the rapt crowd of more than 100,000 people as they were driven through Windsor in a carriage.

MEGHAN MARKLE’s stunning GIVENCHY wedding dress

Meghan Markle stunned onlookers when she arrived at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry in a stunning custom Givenchy gown created by British designer Clare Waight Keller.

The former Suits actress chose to work with Clare Waight Keller “for her elegant, timeless aesthetic, impeccable tailoring and relaxed demeanor.”

Meghan wanted to “highlight the success of a leading British talent who has served as creative head of three globally influential fashion houses – Pringle of Scotland, Chloé and now Givenchy.”

Meghan and Clare worked together on the design, which featured a graphic open bateau neckline that gracefully frames the shoulders and emphasizes Meghan’s slender waist.
