MEGHAN Markle was criticized by Nigeria’s first lady over her “nudity”.
The Duchess of Sussex recently traveled to the West African country for a three-day “faux royal visit” with her husband, Prince Harry, in tow.
Flashy Meg, 42, made several outfit changes during the “unforgettable” trip where she and the Duke met residents and local leaders.
But as she tried to keep up appearances – spending almost £120,000 on jewelery and new clothes – the former actress’ fashion is said to have offended the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
During a speech to mark President Bola Tinubu’s first year in office, after the Sussexes returned to the United States, Tinubu made a snide dig at Meghan.
Addressing the crowds, Tinubu said girls and women in Nigeria “don’t want to imitate and try to imitate the movie stars of America” with their “nudity”.
She said: “The message here is that we have to save our children. We see the way they dress.
“They keep forgetting that in Nigeria, we are beautiful. You can see what they show on stage, I said, ‘We’re in fashion, we see what’s happening.’
“We are not having the Met Gala. And everyone, nudity, is everywhere and the men are well dressed.
“So we have to do something. Tell them that we don’t accept nudity in our culture. It’s not pretty. It’s not pretty at all.
“And they are all beautiful girls, but they should be confident in who they are.
“They don’t want to imitate and try to imitate the movie stars of America. They don’t know where they come from.
“Why did Meghan come here looking for Africa? This is something we have to take home.
“We know who we are. Don’t lose who you are.”
Meghan wore several high-end brands on the trip, including Carolina Herrera, Altuzarra and Johanna Ortiz.
Given the extreme levels of poverty in Nigeria, the American was criticized.
During Harry and Meghan’s trip, the couple visited a war zone, played volleyball and even defended God Save The King.
And I quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colors so I can fit in with all of you and your amazing fashion.

The Sussexes kicked off their “faux royal tour” with a visit to Lightway Academy, a primary and secondary school in the capital.
They then visited Nigeria’s defense headquarters on Friday to meet military wives and senior officials.
The following day, Harry was spotted playing volleyball, before Meghan referred to Nigeria as “my country”.
Speaking at an event in the capital Abuja, the duchess said: “I want to start by thanking you all so much for your kindness in welcoming my husband and I to this country… my country.
“I am simply flattered, honored and inspired. It has been a turbulent 24 hours since we arrived.
“And I quickly got the memo that I need to wear more colors, so I can fit in with all of you and your amazing fashion.”
The Duchess of Sussex recently discovered that she was 43% Nigerian, according to a genealogical test.
The next day, Harry tried his hand at basketball, before they ended the trip at a charity polo match.
They also revealed a partnership between the Archewell Foundation and non-profit organization Giants of Africa, which aims to empower young people through sport.
But in the hours that followed, the charity made headlines after it was declared “delinquent” and ordered to stop raising money.
It was alleged that the charity did not timely file its 2022 tax return or related costs.
However, the documents were filed and the check sent, but it never arrived, The Telegraph reported.
The Sussexes’ charity last week broke its silence on alleged cash problems, saying it is “fully compliant”.
A spokesperson said: “We have diligently investigated the situation and can confirm that the Archewell Foundation remains fully compliant and in good standing.
“Payments due were made promptly and in accordance with IRS processes and procedures.
“In addition, all necessary documentation was completed by the Foundation without errors or irregularities.”
