ARCHIE and Lilibet could one day be called into action as the Royal Family “hangs by a thread”, says an expert.

Prince Harry’s children now call the US home, but they cannot be denied their connection to Britain and the monarchy.

And royal expert Phil Dampier says this is something that could come into effect over the years.

In recent months, other royals have been asked to step in when King Charles and Princess Kate have been out of action – and their spouses have looked after them.

One expert said Princess Anne was the “glue” that held the royal family together, as she was sometimes called upon to take the reins.

And although the king is now “overloading” his schedule as he returns to his royal duties, Phil said this may not be the last time members are stripped.

Speaking to royal editor Matt Wilkinson for The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Show, the commentator said the company is “hanging on by a thread”.

He said this could lead to Archie, five, and Lilibet, who turns three tomorrow, being called in to help.

Phil added that as children get older, they may start to question their parents about why they don’t have a relationship with their father’s side of the family.

The expert told the programme: “The fact that they are still seventh and eighth in line for launch is truly extraordinary and you never know one day they might be called into action.

“They can move up the ladder.

“It’s all hanging in the balance and I think when they get older they’re going to start asking questions and saying ‘how did it come to this? That we don’t have a relationship with our grandparents or the royal family.’ .”

It’s so sad that King Charles and Thomas Markle can’t see Lilibet and Archie because of Meghan and Harry’s fight, says expert

Earlier this year, another expert spoke out about how other royals had to step in while the king and Kate were out of action.

Both senior royals were currently absent from their duties – with Prince William also taking a step back to look after his wife and children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

With three major members of the company “falling from the top” this week, people were questioning who would show up for their appointments.

When the king ascended the throne, he appointed Princess Anne and King Edward counselors of state – replacing Prince Harry and Andrew after they left their posts.

State counselors are chosen to carry out duties on behalf of the king if he is ill or abroad.

King Charles’ Cancer Treatment Timeline

February 5th

Less than a month after Charles’ procedure for an enlarged prostate was revealed, the palace confirmed he had an unspecified cancer.

The statement added that Charles had already begun a “regular treatment program” and was being advised to step back from “public facing duties”.

February 21st

Charles met PM Rishi Sunak for the first time since his diagnosis for a private audience at the palace.

Earlier on the same day, he attended the monthly meeting of the Privy Council.

He was also photographed in his office reading cards and messages sent by well-wishers as he continued his treatment.

March 28

Charles made his first public comments after his diagnosis.

In a pre-recorded clip shared on the Royal Maundy Service, he said it was “a great sadness” not to be able to attend in person.

March 31

On Easter Sunday, the King and Camilla were seen attending a service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

April 26

The palace said Charles – after a “period of treatment and recovery” – will return to public duties and is preparing to welcome Japanese royalty in June.

April 30th

He visited a cancer treatment center with Camilla on his first public royal duty since her diagnosis.

May 13

During a visit to the Army Flying Museum in Hampshire, Charles spoke to British military veteran Aaron Mapplebeck, who had also undergone chemotherapy.

The king told him that he had lost his sense of taste as a result of the treatment.

On the same day, Charles participated in a ceremony handing over the title of Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps to his son William.

May 30th

It is announced that Charles is expected to participate in this year’s Trooping the Color ceremony in June.

Princess Anne was then dubbed the glue that holds the family together during this time, while Camilla and Wills take care of their spouses.

Royal expert and author Angela Levin told The Sun that it is a “very, very difficult” time for the family and that Anne’s hard-working nature is necessary.

She said: “I find this extremely worrying because in some ways the Royal Family is a link to your own family, you know how they progress, you know when a baby arrives.

“Seeing three of them fall from the top is very difficult.

“The late Queen always felt she needed to be seen to be believed and if you can’t see the three people at the top, it’s difficult.

Archie and Lilibet should visit Charles – Expert

By Matt Wilkinson and Rebecca Miller

KING Charles would get a real “boost” if Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children came to visit him, it has been claimed.

Chris Ship, ITV royal editor, said The Sun’s Royal Exclusive Showhow “pretty amazing” it would be if the family got together.

Chris told The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson: “The relationship is very difficult within that family.

“I think so, it would be a lot easier if Meghan wasn’t there.

“But she is still the king’s daughter-in-law and they have two children who are the king’s grandchildren.

“You would expect them all to see each other.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if they brought the kids and everyone went to see Grandpa because that would really cheer him up?

“Imagine if Harry and Meghan came with the kids and he could see them, or one of them, for the first time – that would be amazing.”
