MEGHAN Markle made a “ridiculous” mistake hours before Trooping the Colour, a royal expert says.

The Duchess of Sussex, 42, has sparked controversy after a “very, very strange” move to the American Riviera Orchard – PRs reportedly warned her against it.

Just hours before the big royal event, Trooping the Color, Meg decided to launch two new American Riviera Orchard products.

Harry’s polo friend Nacho Figueras shared a photo on Instagram of his luxurious raspberry jam and some dog biscuits sent by the former Suits actress.

You can’t understand what the Sussexes did. They should have just kept quiet

Meanwhile, husband Harry didn’t recognize King Charles’ official birthday on Saturday – and apparently skipped Father’s Day.

In stark contrast, Prince William posted a touching photo of himself as a child with Charles, in a show of support amid his ongoing and courageous health battles.

Speaking to The Sun exclusively about Meghan’s ill-timed brand launch, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: “Megan and Harry know perfectly well that every thing they do is monitored by the press.

“The idea that they would do something on Trooping the Color day. I mean, it’s really silly.

Duty and family mean everything to Kate

By ARTHUR EDWARDS, Sun Royal Photographer

The Royals were one big happy family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as the Princess of Wales made an emotional and unique appearance.

This was a courageous return to public life for Catherine, who has battled cancer valiantly for the past three months.

She didn’t need to be in Trooping the Color and no one would blame her for staying away.

But she still chose to attend.

It is a measure of how much her duty and her family mean to her.

I have not seen the Princess of Wales in person since her last public engagement on Christmas Day, more than six months ago.

Yesterday she looked very well and, more importantly, very healthy too.

Although the photograph released by Kensington Palace on Friday was solemn, yesterday Catherine smiled with joy – her smile will undoubtedly warm the hearts of the nation.

Accompanied by William, who struggled alone while supporting his ailing wife and adorable children, the entire group appeared relaxed and united during one of the most important days of the year for the Royal Family.

It was also beautiful to see Catherine exchanging words with her father-in-law, King Charles.

They both fought hard to return to their roles, and even through long lenses, you can tell they have genuine affection for each other.

The only downside was the classic British weather.

Was cold.

It was wet.

My jacket and camera were soaked.

Next Thursday will be the longest day of the year, but the heavy rain made me feel like it was the middle of January.

However, the moment the princess appeared to wave and smile, the rain was worth enduring.

There were lots of elegant outfits on display – it was a military parade after all – but the Princess of Wales’ stunning white dress was a cut above all the others.

Almost every camera was fixed on her and with exceptional taste she chose a dress that could be seen on The Mall by thousands of well-wishers.

This was a remarkable return from a remarkable woman and I’m sure it would mean a lot to have her family by her side.

So it’s no surprise that she hasn’t stopped smiling the entire time.

“I mean, it’s kind of a conflict. What was done was just silly. We know that in March Meghan launched American Riviera Orchard.

“We know she sent around 50 jars of strawberry jam to some of her friends and influencers, she got some support, but that wasn’t very impressive.

“There weren’t many A-listers who said how wonderful it was.

“What’s so weird is that she did something on the day of Trooping the Color, it doesn’t make sense.

These are unprecedented times – but shoulder-to-shoulder King and Kate prove they’re fighting together, royal expert

“The label on the jar said two of two, if she’s only going to send two jars, what’s the point?”

“I don’t think it was thought through. It doesn’t make sense in terms of public relations. It’s ridiculous.”

‘I NEVER CARE’

Fitzwilliams added that the Duke and Duchess are known for distracting and diverting attention from royal events.

“The Sussexes never cared about royal protocol, about the fact that you don’t have a daily conflict,” said the expert.

“Meghan would not have been advised to do this by any of her PR consultants.

“It’s very, very strange. If she just sent the jam to a friend, she should have asked him not to post it, because otherwise it would clearly make them objects of mockery.”

The royal commentator added how it was a “strange” choice amid ongoing “pressures” from the Royal Family.

“The official birthday of Harry’s father, who is battling cancer.

“And how it was so meaningful that Catherine was able to watch the parade from the Horse Guards office, and also appear on the balcony, and that she is having preventive chemotherapy for cancer.

“Then you can’t understand what the Sussexes did. They should have just kept quiet.”

FATHER’S DAY SILENCE

Meanwhile, Harry was also unable to share a message for his dad on the special Sunday, as brother Wills sent a cute post.

King Charles also posted an adorable photo of himself as a baby with his father, Prince Philip.

However, Fitzwilliams suggested that Charles would feel “indifferent” about not receiving a show of support on Father’s Day from his “strong-willed” son.

He said the Royal Family has more important priorities than dealing with the Harry and Meghan drama.

Mr Fitzwilliams

“Greetings or not, it depends on the way individuals behave towards each other”, added the commentator.

“This was put under the microscope recently, and I mean, it was really, really weird.

“We know that Harry will appeal the security concerns and there may well be a further court hearing.

“We also know that he talked about coming, possibly periodically, to see his father.

AMERICAN RIVIERA ORCHARD

By Becky Pemberton

MEGHAN Markle will soon launch her American Riviera Orchard brand and could promote herself as the “Nigella Lawson of the USA”, according to a brand expert.

However, the Duchess of Sussex, 42, may face some challenges as she tries to create a “domestic goddess in the kitchen” image across the pond.

Professor Pauline Maclaran, professor of marketing and consumer research at Royal Holloway, University of London, said BBC: “I would see it as a much more domestic type of market for a goddess.

“With these new real connections now, and, you know, promoting elegance.”

Professor Maclaran stated that Meghan is positioning herself to be the next Nigella Lawson and Martha Stewart.

One problem Meghan may face is that, although she has shared recipes on her now-defunct blog The Tig, the former Suits actress is not necessarily known for her cooking and does not technically have any formal training as a chef.

Royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous: “Meghan has no track record of being a top cook, so she would struggle to be a Californian Nigella Lawson.

“There is a danger that you will spread yourself too thin doing multiple things, none of them well. Meghan is known as an actress, so people might not take her seriously in the kitchen.

“To be fair, she wouldn’t be the first celebrity to decide to cash in on cooking shows for the masses, despite not having much experience.”

But maybe formal culinary training doesn’t matter.

“But nothing has happened, so we will simply have to wait and see what their intentions are.

“But the relationship the Sussexes have with the media is sometimes very close, for example Harry speaking to Good Morning America after visiting Charles in February.

“The Sussexes object to the way the media covers them.

“But my God, if you look closely, in the last few years they’ve been using the media. I mean, it’s been relentless at times.”
