MANY royal fans will be wondering whether Princess Kate will make an appearance at Wimbledon this year as she recovers from cancer treatment.
The Princess of Wales is a regular at the tennis tournament, and one particularly memorable visit was the one she made in 2019 with Meghan Markle.

The day was supposed to be a public display of unity between Princess Kate and the Duchess of Sussex.
However, it turns out that things may not have been so harmonious behind the scenes.
The relationship between the Sussexes and Prince William and Kate were said to be tense at the time.
Prince Harry detailed in Spare how Kate allegedly made Meghan cry over her bridesmaid dresses at the wedding.
Despite all the smiles at Wimbledon, tension was evident during the visit, which took place a year after the first visit in 2018.
Body language expert Judi James told Fabulous: “For her ‘denial’ appearance in 2019, Meghan was placed in a Middleton ‘sandwich’, sitting between Kate and her sister Pippa.
“As a public sign of intent, it seemed to imply that Meghan had broken away from the sister group to be shown as the third sister and therefore part of the family.
“It also meant that Kate and Pippa would be seen focusing their attention on Meghan who, in the middle seat, would look very much like the honored sister-in-law, hosted by both of them.
“Meghan was often photographed looking straight ahead.
“Pippa seemed to be able to put more ‘carefree’ effort into her conversations with Meghan, although even during some of their conversations Meghan was seen touching her neck, which implied some embarrassment, or with an arm around her own torso in the which appeared to be a barrier gesture.
“Kate, for her part, seemed to have adopted the super-polite and non-tactile pose of standing with her hands clasped behind her back while talking to Meghan.”
PALACE DIVISION
The editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine shared how “as an actress,” Meghan “would never allow any member of the public to see any visible signs of a rift between her and Kate.”
However, she added: “The signs of a feud between the two prominent women were not necessarily obvious.
“But now we know that Meghan hated being considered second best to the then Duchess of Cambridge.

“Kate got the number one man, while Meghan only had the ‘spare’ son, Prince Harry.”
Ingrid continued: “Kate tried to get along with Meghan.
“Harry was part of the little Kensington Palace family and Kate knew he wanted to get married.
“She also longed for him to be happy.
“But Kate saw warning signs in Meghan’s behavior, especially around the time of the wedding.
“She heard gossip from staff about how rude Meghan could be if she considered someone unimportant or of no use to her.
“Kate didn’t like those traits, but she would never have been nasty to Meghan.”

ROYAL expert Camilla Tominey has given her opinion on the situation and revealed where she thinks it all went so wrong for William and Harry’s wives.
It is claimed that when Kate and William met Meghan in 2016, they didn’t get off to a great start.
Camila wrote: “In fact, there was a certain frisson almost as soon as Meghan officially arrived on the royal scene in 2016, to a lukewarm reception from the “formal” William and Kate, who apart from finding her “a bit full”, had no idea that she would be a guardian, having known a succession of Harry’s girlfriends.”
While Harry wrote in his memoir Spare that when he brought Meghan to meet his brother and sister-in-law, Kate remained in the garden playing with the children instead of greeting her.
There were also seemingly broader issues at stake, and Camila stated that “The Prince and Princess of Wales may well have been influenced by mutual friends who raised concerns following a shooting in Sandringham.”
According to reports – which were also covered in Tom Bower’s book Revenge, Meghan and Harry attended a party with 16 guests when the conversation turned to former US President Donald Trump and his impending election.
Tom wrote: “Without hesitation, Meghan challenged every guest whose conversation violated her values.
“In addition to Harry’s hearing, some friends questioned Meghan’s alleged “wokery”. Meghan disrupted the party, they concluded.
Other outside parties could also have played a role, and things reportedly came to a head when Kate’s younger sister, Pippa Middleton, didn’t invite Harry and Meghan to her big day.
Speaking about the situation involving Pippa, who married James Matthews in May 2017, Camila said: “The Sussexes were upset when Pippa refused to invite them to her wedding to James Matthews in May 2017, perhaps fearing she would be upstaged by Harry’s new girlfriend.
“She later relented and invited them to the evening reception “to keep the peace.”
“According to Harry in Spare, William and Kate criticized the couple who changed their names’ places at the table – before being accused of doing the same when the Sussexes got married.”
MEGHAN’S CONFESSION
Meghan even talked about Wimbledon day in her bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In the 2021 chat, Oprah asked Meghan: “Did you feel welcomed by everyone? It looked like you and Kate… were at the Wimbledon game, where you were going to watch a friend play tennis…
“Was it what it seemed? You are two sisters-in-law spread across the world, getting to know each other.
“Was she helping you, welcoming you into the family, helping you adapt?”
Meghan responded: “I think everyone welcomed me.

Less than a year later, in January 2020, Meghan and Harry announced they were stepping down as senior royals.
They now live in Santa Barbara with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
KATE’S RECOVERY
Understandably, Kate took a step back from public duties while undergoing cancer treatment.
AELTC president Debbie Jevans has previously confirmed that they are “remaining flexible” about who will present trophies to Wimbledon champions this year.
Traditionally, Kate does the honor, in her role as patron of the group.
Debbie said Telegraph sport: “We hope that the Princess of Wales can present the trophies as patron of the Club, but her health and recovery are the priority.
“We don’t know what we don’t know. All we’ve said is we’ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.”
