PRINCE Harry’s phone calls to the King still “go unanswered” amid ongoing friction over his battle for taxpayer-funded personal security, a friend has claimed.

Harry, 39, has not seen his father since Charles’ cancer diagnosis was announced in February.

And a friend revealed that Harry remains firmly in the cold despite pleas for help after losing his police bodyguards when he quit his royal role.

Despite discussions about their safety, it has been announced that Harry and Meghan will visit Colombia for a trip later this year, despite the UK and US governments issuing travel warnings for the crime-ridden country.

Harry – whose damaging revelations to his family led to a total breach of trust – found it impossible to talk to Charles, 75, about his fatal illness.

His friend told America’s People magazine: “His calls were not answered – he tried to talk about the king’s health, but those calls were not answered either.”

The Duke of Sussex continues to appeal a High Court ruling over his security cover, after losing several rounds in the case against the Home Office.

The magazine article states that their calls on the matter were met with the cold response that the king is “currently unavailable”.

Pariah Harry’s anguish has left his wife Meghan wishing she could back off, sources told the celebrity magazine.

But Meghan, 42, accepts Harry’s decision to pursue the legal battle to protect her and her children Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.

A source — reportedly a former employee of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation — told PEOPLE that the Duchess “supports Harry 100 percent, but she wishes he could drop these lawsuits, be happy and live in the moment.”

They added: “She wants him to be free of all this, but she also knows that because of everything he’s been through and his love for [her and their children]he can not.

“She wants him to live in a world where he’s not burdened by this.”

Harry and Meghan’s allies also claimed that he would not need to give interviews to earn money if the king intervened and helped him secure security.

And they claimed the issue had become central to repairing fractured royal relations, insisting that if a deal were reached it could be “”swords down”.

The source added: “Harry is scared and feels the only person who can do anything about it is his dad.

“Harry is determined to protect his own family at all costs.”

People’s cover story follows an explosive 2019 interview titled “Meghan Markle’s Best Friends Break Their Silence.”

‘You can’t undo bloodlines’

Five friends of the Duchess stood up “against the global bullying we are seeing” and spoke “the truth about our friend”.

This week’s edition characteristics the Duke on the cover and claims to reveal the “real reason” why Harry and the King are “no longer on speaking terms”.

Promises: “For the first time, insiders open up about what caused the reconciliation between Prince Harry and King Charles impossible.”

The Duke recently told ITV that he “will not bring my wife back to this country” about “genuine concerns” about safety.

Earlier this year, a High Court judge ruled that his unsuccessful attempt to appeal a Home Office decision about his safety in the UK was “frankly futile”.

He had sought a court analysis about a decision taken by the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) to withdraw his right to automatic police protection.

Nothing would give [Harry] more happiness than being able to rekindle your bond with your father

But authorities insist he no longer has the right to be protected at public expense as a working royal.

Harry offered to pay the Metropolitan Police for bodyguards – but government lawyers told the court that officers could not be used as “private bodyguards for the rich”.

The Duke is said to be upset by his estranged father’s refusal to intervene in the security issue.

But well-informed royal sources have stressed that the king cannot intervene in government or police matters.

Harmful claims and revelations Harry’s book Spare and Incendiary Racism claims that his interview with Oprah Winfrey and the Netflix documentary opened the chasm.

People’s source stated that nothing “would [Harry] more happiness than being able to rekindle your bond with your father – You cannot undo bloodlines.

“He’s not asking his dad for a better house or better cars. He is asking because of the reality of the situation.

Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the magazine’s article.

Confirming her trip to Colombia, the country’s vice president, Francia Márquez, said: “As vice president of Colombia and minister of equality and equity, I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, graciously accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country.

“During their trip, the Duke and Duchess will join me to visit Bogotá, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali.

“In these vibrant locations, they will have the exceptional opportunity to interact with leaders, young people and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress.”
