OMID Scobie caused a stir when he released his bombastic book about real familyFinding Freedom and Endgame – and now he’s doing a TV show.
The controversial biographer has reportedly written a new drama series about life in the palace.
The rights were acquired by Universal Television to turn Omid’s real novels into a fictional TV series called Royal Spin, which is Omid’s fictional debut.
The drama will tell the story of an American press secretary who moves from her political career in Washington to work at Buckingham Palace in a communications role.
People have already begun to draw parallels between the character and American divorcee Meghan Markle and her difficult navigation of royal life.
Although it is thought that the depiction of real life may be less than harmonious, royal author Phil Dampier told Fabulous that the Prince and Princess of Wales won’t be too worried about its release.
He shared: “Scobie’s last book, Endgame, was a failure and ended up being all gong and no dinner, with few factual revelations.
“It didn’t sell well and it appears he is now desperately trying to use a novel to get his message across.
“Since much of what he wrote is fiction, he might as well do it.
“But I don’t think William and Kate will be too worried about this TV show.
“I don’t see it getting much publicity and, frankly, they have a lot more to worry about with Kate’s recovery from cancer and also the King’s treatment.”
Phil claimed that Netflix royal drama The Crown was “starting to flop in the last few series” and had “become something of a joke because it was so inaccurate”.
He continued: “I hope the same can be said of this so-called drama, which is just fiction.”
Scobie has been described as “Meghan’s spokesperson” because of his favorable coverage of Prince Harry and Meghan.
His book Endgame claims that Wills distanced himself from Harry after his marriage to Meghan, despite the brothers and their wives attending high-profile events afterwards.
The book also says that Charles did not try to repair his relationship with his son, the Duke of Sussex, after Megxit – even though Harry was invited to his coronation.
The Princess of Wales is still undergoing cancer treatment and has only held a few public engagements since announcing her diagnosis in March.
In June, she updated fans: “I’ve been overwhelmed by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the past few months.”
She added: “My treatment is ongoing and will last for a few more months.
“On days when I feel good, it is a joy to participate in school life, to dedicate my personal time to the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to work a little from home.
Who is Omid Scobie and what did he write about the royal family?
OMID SCOBIE became known as a royal correspondent and author, but found himself at the center of scandals over his royal books.
Scobie became a journalist and writer after completing his studies in Journalism at the London College of Communication.
Scobie was a real contributor to ABC News and appeared frequently on Good Morning America, as well as hosting the network’s real podcast, HeirPod.
As an author, he is best known for co-writing Finding Freedom: Harry And Meghan And The Making Of A Modern Royal Family – a biography by Scobie and Carolyn Durand that chronicled the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from their initial romance to their bombastic decision to leave the Royal Family.
Finding Freedom claims to reveal many private details about the Sussexes and their time as working royals, from the start of the alleged feud between Harry and Prince William, to Meghan’s struggle to adapt to her new life.
Journalist Scobie also made some shocking claims in Endgame, including that King Charles and his eldest son Prince William are heading towards a feud.
The book also claims that Princess Kate and Meghan Markle last spoke in 2019 and claims that the palace lied when saying Camilla would not be queen – despite Queen Elizabeth II saying it was her “sincere wish” in 2020.
Scobie, who reportedly met the Duchess of Sussex at Toronto Fashion Week in 2015, has been dubbed “Meghan’s Cheerleader.”
He wrote a now-famous account of the Sussexes’ final engagement as senior royals in 2020, where he was one of only three journalists invited.
“I’m looking forward to taking part in the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to attend some public engagements during the summerbut also knowing that I’m not out of the woods yet.”
Kate made a triumphant return to Troping the Colorwhere she was photographed on the balcony with her family, and also participated in the Wimbledon men’s final with Princess Charlotte.
About that, King Charles underwent a corrective procedure on his enlarged prostate at the London Clinic in January and later revealed his cancer diagnosis.
The palace released a statement on Friday, April 26, 2024, saying that King Charles was considered well enough to return to public duties.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “His Majesty the King will soon return to public duties following a period of treatment and recovery following his recent cancer diagnosis.
“To help mark this milestone, the King and Queen will make a joint visit to a cancer treatment center next Tuesday, where they will meet with medical specialists and patients.
“This visit will be the first in a series of external engagements that Her Majesty will undertake in the coming weeks.”
The palace confirmed that the king’s treatment is ongoing, but doctors are pleased with his progress.
