The “REAL reason” Prince Harry allegedly turned down an invitation from King Charles to stay at a royal residence can be revealed.

The 39-year-old spent three nights in London on a tour to promote this month’s Invictus Games, but did not see the king.

Harry is said to have made several requests for a meeting and blamed the king’s “full programme” when it didn’t happen.

But Charles agreed to host Harry in a secret royal residence knowing he did not have a base in the UK, according to The telegraph.

And Harry said no because that would leave him in a “visible location with public entrances and exits and no police protection,” he said.

Harry ended up staying in a hotel, which could go unnoticed.

This is despite the fact that any royal residence has armed guards at entry and exit points, which any London hotel would not.

It has not been reported where exactly Prince Harry was offered a room, but St James’s Palace is believed to be a strong contender.

It is opposite Clarence’s house, where the king stays when he is in London.

Prince Harry said the king was “too busy” to meet.

A spokesperson said: “Unfortunately this will not be possible due to Her Majesty’s full programme.

“The Duke, of course, understands his father’s schedule and various other priorities and looks forward to seeing him soon.”

It has since been revealed that the king had a busy schedule that week but made changes that would allow him to see his son.

Harry and Meghan’s relationship “may hide unpleasant surprises”, says expert

The Duke arrived in London on May 7 for a three-day promotional tour of the Invictus Games, which celebrates its ten-year anniversary.

On May 8, he spoke at an event at St. Paul’s Cathedral, where he gave a reading from the Bible in Corinthians that emphasized that different people have different gifts and strengths.

As Harry’s event began, the king met the public at a garden party at Buckingham Palace, just over two miles away.

The prince was also the surprise guest at a party organized by Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity that supports the bereaved children of military personnel.

Harry has been in legal battles with the Home Office over security during visits to the UK.

The Duke, of course, understands his father’s schedule and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.

The prince only had police protection when he participated in royal events, according to the Telegraph.

Such instances include the late Queen’s funeral or when he was flown from Heathrow to meet the King in February following Charles’ shock cancer diagnosis.

When traveling to and from his hotel in February, the prince only had his own private bodyguards, the Telegraph claims.

The Duke spent between 30 and 40 minutes with Charles at Clarence House before the monarch left for Sandringham by helicopter.

Harry’s whirlwind visit in February lasted just 26 hours, while he spent just 20 hours in London for the king’s coronation last May.

He now has to give the Metropolitan Police 28 days’ notice if he wants to come to the UK with security measures in place.

Each request is handled individually by Ravec, the committee that oversees the protection of royalty and public figures.

Harry and Meghan have been homeless in the UK since The Sun revealed they were evicted from Frogmore Cottage last year.

Archewell has been approached for comment.

Harry and the King can’t play happy families with so much public attention, says The Sun’s Matt Wilkinson

By Matt Wilkinson, Royal Editor

Prince Harry is in London, but he will not meet his father, the King.

The Duke of Sussex arrived from Los Angeles alone, without Meghan or their children, for a busy schedule of events marking the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

Before departing California, it is understood that Harry was “looking forward” to seeing the king for the second time since his cancer diagnosis.

It is quite telling that confirmation that there will be no meeting came from the Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and not Buckingham Palace.

His team states that “unfortunately it will not be possible due to Her Majesty’s full program”.

They add: “The Duke, of course, understands his father’s schedule and various other priorities and looks forward to seeing him soon.”

Now, the word that stands out is “priorities”.

The king, we know, is busy returning to public service.

For example, on Tuesday, while Harry was in London, the king was carrying out his constitutional duty and meeting the Prime Minister of Fiji at the palace.

He is also expected to host a party in the palace garden and a weekly audience with the prime minister on Wednesday.

And Harry’s diary is full for three days with Invictus. However, sometimes they will be just two miles apart and risk passing each other on London’s roads.

Some observers may see this as “sad” because father and son cannot find the time.

Others may say that it is understandable, as they both have commitments and work “priorities”.

But perhaps there was too much water under the bridge for father and son to play happy families amid so much public attention.

A timeline of Prince Harry and William’s ‘rivalry’: Brothers ‘at war’

In 2018, The Sun told how the “simmering tension” began when William questioned the speed of Harry and Meghan’s engagement.

The first hints of friction emerged after William was introduced to Meghan when she was staying at Kensington Palace.

Once she returned home to Canada, William and Harry sat down for a sibling chat.

He knew Harry was already crazy about her, but it was claimed he advised him to take it slow.

The younger prince reportedly didn’t take the advice very well, with a royal source saying he “went crazy.”

Then, in June 2019, Harry and Meghan officially split from the charity they shared with William and Kate.

The Royal Foundation will be split between the Sussexes and the Cambridges, while the couples focus on their own separate charitable efforts.

Prince William and Prince Harry first established the Royal Foundation in 2009, before Kate joined two years later, shortly after their engagement was announced.

The trio often appeared together at events and the Foundation has had huge success with projects such as the Invictus Games for injured veterans and the Heads Together mental health campaign.

The Royal Foundation said the decision was made after completing a review of its structure – but added that the two couples would continue to work together in the future.

Harry and Meg lived near Kate and Wills on the Kensington Palace estate, but moved to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor before baby Archie was born.

The move further fueled rumors of a fallout.

Harry, 39, also hinted in his ITV documentary “Harry and Meghan, An African Journey” that he and his brother had grown apart.

It came after Prince Philip called Meghan “DOW”, after the Duchess of Windsor – the American divorcee who led Edward VIII to abdicate.

And he warned the late queen to be “cautious” with Harry’s then-fiancée, claims a royal author.

Ingrid Seward revealed in new book My Mother And I that Prince Philip felt it was “strange… how much Meghan reminded him of the Duchess of Windsor”.

In 2021, Harry and Meghan gave their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey, where Harry accused his father of holding him back financially.

Harry then flew back to the UK to join William in unveiling a statue of his mother, Princess Diana, in the grounds of Kensington Palace. But sources said William did not want to attend the memorial amid the fallout.

In 2022, shortly before the death of her grandmother, the Queen, sources claimed that Kate acts as a “peacemaker” between the siblings.

Last year, Harry claimed his brother “knocked him to the ground” during an argument about Meghan.

In his book Spare, Harry said William called Meghan “rude” and “difficult” during a fight.

Harry claimed that William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace and…knocking me to the ground.”

He said he was left with a visible injury to his back after the 2019 argument at Nottingham Cottage, in the grounds of Kensington Palace, where he lived at the time.

In January this year, Harry flew to be with Charles following the shock of the monarch’s cancer diagnosis.

Harry flew back to the US the next day – without seeing Wills.
