A ROYAL expert said she was surprised to see Princess Kate in the Trooping the Color royal carriage, but it all made sense when she was seen with her family.

The Princess of Wales, 42, made a stunning return to royal duties when she appeared at Trooping the Color, marking King Charles’ official birthday.

It is understood that her appearance does not represent a return to frontline public duties or an end to Kate’s cancer problems.

However, it is a positive step in the right direction after the mother began treatment at the end of February.

Hello’s royal editor Emily Nash told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive: “It was surprising to see how much she took part in the carriage procession because they are not particularly pleasant experiences.”

But speaking to Matt Wilkinson, royal editor of The Sun, she added: “Seeing her with her children made it all clear.

“We heard this from the beginning, the way she announced her cancer diagnosis was entirely focused on her children and their well-being.

“Once you saw her in the carriage with them, it all made sense.

“In many ways, this was the perfect way for her to reappear, because she was at the heart of the family.”

Matt admitted he was quite surprised by the announcement that Kate would be taking part in the annual ceremonial parade, adding that it’s “a big deal.”

He added, however: “Maybe that was the point. The whole world got to see the Princess of Wales, rather than just a few people.”

Emily said: “Let’s not forget there have been some wild rumors and speculation on social media surrounding other videos and photographs.

Princess Kate will return for Trooping of the Color

“You really couldn’t argue when she’s there in the flesh, being taken through The Mall.”

The appearance was Kate’s first with the royal family since last year’s Christmas Day at Sandringham.

Kate went to hospital for abdominal surgery in January and spent 13 nights at the London Clinic before continuing her recovery at home with her family.

Days later, she released a video revealing “exams after the operation confirmed the presence of cancer” and that she had started treatment.

Kate’s appearance at the royal event was met with huge applause from adoring fans.

It was Princess Kate’s first time attending a royal event since she and Charles were diagnosed with cancer.

Kate’s message in full

Kate Middleton issued a statement the day before Trooping the Color

Kate said: “I have been overwhelmed by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last few
some months.

“It really made a big difference to William and me and helped us through some of the most difficult times.

“I’m making good progress, but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and have to give in
your body resting. But on good days, when you feel your strongest, you want to make the most of feeling good.

“My treatment is ongoing and will last a few more months. On days when I feel good, it’s a joy to participate in school life, dedicate my personal time to the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as getting to do a little work at home.

“I’m looking forward to taking part in the King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hoping to take part in some public engagements over the summer, but also knowing that I’m not out of the woods yet.

“I’m learning to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.

“Thank you so much for your continued understanding and to all of you who have bravely shared your stories with me.”

The two stood next to each other this afternoon, waving to thousands of well-wishers who braved the rainy weather to see them.

The day was marked by rain, but the rains couldn’t dim Kate’s glow as she smiled alongside Prince William and their children.

Fans watched in amazement as the princess played and laughed with 10-year-old Prince George, nine-year-old Princess Charlotte and six-year-old Prince Louis.

What is color trope?

Trooping the Color or ‘The King’s Birthday Parade’ is a military ceremony dating back to the early 18th century or earlier, when battalion colors (flags) were carried (or ‘trooped’) through the ranks so that they could be seen and recognized by those soldiers.

Since 1748, this parade has also marked the Sovereign’s official birthday.

The honor of trooping their color rotates between the five Foot Guards regiments and, this year, it goes to Company number 9 of the Irish Guards.

The Irish Guards were created by Queen Victoria in 1900 and provided almost 125 years of service to the nation.

This year marks the second Troop of the Color of Her Majesty’s reign.

The King took part in his first Trooping the Color in 1951, aged three, traveling in a carriage with his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and his aunt, Princess Margaret. The King first took part in the parade as Colonel of the Welsh Guards in 1975.
