PRINCESS Diana’s £10.95 million family home, where her “evil stepmother” once lived, is for sale.
The late Princess of Wales spent much of her life at the Mayfair estate after her father, John, purchased it in 1990.
Diana’s stepmother, Countess Raine Spencer, inherited the sprawling mansion when John passed away in 1992.
Famously, a fight between Diana and Raine resulted in the people’s princess pushing her stepmother down the stairs.
Diana and her brothers even kicked her out of Althorp House, the family residence, and referred to her as “Acid Raine” – with Channel 4 once airing a doc called Diana’s ‘Wicked’ Stepmother.
Raine was also not seated with John at Princess Diana’s wedding to Prince Charles in 1981 and did not appear on the Buckingham Palace balcony after the ceremony.
However, it is believed that Diana became close to Raine after the end of her marriage to Charles.
It was reported at the time that “while the princess was coming to terms with the end of her marriage – while estranged from her own mother – Raine provided a practical shoulder to cry on”.
Before things got better, Raine was kicked out of Althorp House two days after John’s death, prompting her to retreat to the Mayfair estate, now for sale, on Farm Street.
In protest, the widow painted the dining room the same bright red color as Althorp’s – which remains the same to this day.
Built in the early 1980s, the very modern house in the upscale part of London has four bedrooms and five bathrooms.
At nearly 5,000 square feet, the periodic house has been completely renovated.
The five-story townhouse has marble floors and plush rugs.
The house, sold by Chestertons, has a lift, terrace, underground parking and has staff on site.

Althorp Estate
Althorp Estate was Princess Diana’s childhood home, where she met the young King Charles, and now houses his memorial, which thousands of people visit every year.
It is often referred to as your “happy” place.
The main residence, a sprawling Grade I listed manor house, is set in 13,000 acres in Northamptonshire, which includes woodlands, country houses and farms.
It was purchased by Sir John Spencer in 1508 and in recent weeks, current owner Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, has launched a web series to reveal more about Diana’s time there.
Many said the vast country house was so luxurious it could rival a royal residence – so here we take a look inside and explore its past.
Althorp House, which measures 100,000 square feet, has 30 luxurious bedrooms and a number of impressive features.
The property has a ballroom, a billiards room, and an impressive gallery with paintings, including Anthony van Dyck’s 1637 portrait War and Peace.
Notably, in the great hall and Painters’ Passage, there are numerous portraits and busts.
The Malborough Room, which serves as the formal dining area, seats up to 42 guests and features magnificent portraits and landscapes.
The Great Room, which was used by the second Lord Spencer for political meetings, is now a family dining area and business space – and features custom-made artwork and gilded wood mirrors.
In one of the Spencer family’s many living areas, there are large green and cream floral sofas, a wooden table with three side tables, and three paintings of an individual cow in a vertical row.
The house also has a library with 10,000 books and is decorated with several palatial chandeliers, red armchairs and large patterned rugs that cover the wooden floor.
Among the many bedrooms is The Oak Bedroom, where John Spencer secretly married Georgiana Poyntz and where Sir Winston Churchill slept.
It features a large oak bed with the letter S embroidered on the curtains and bedspreads to represent the Spencer family name.
It is also the final resting place of Princess Diana.
