WIMBLEDON starts today and many royal fans will be wondering if Princess Kate will be attending this year.

The Princess of Wales it’s a huge tennis fan, but understandably took a step back from public duties while undergoing cancer treatment.

The everything England Club president Debbie Jevans confirmed they are “remaining flexible” about who will present the trophies to the Wimbledon champions this year.

Traditionally, Princess Kate does the honoring, in her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC).

Debbie said Telegraph sport: “We hope that the Princess of Wales can present the trophies as Patron of the Club, but she health and recovery is the priority.

“We don’t know what we don’t know. All we’ve said is we’ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.”

She added: “I don’t know who would present the trophies as an alternative – that is something to consider closer to the date if necessary.

“We will remain flexible. When we hear it, we’ll think about what the right thing to do is.”

According to a royal expert, the Princess of Wales, 42, would “love” to go to Wimbledon this year if her health allows it.

Emily Andrews told Grazia magazine: “His treatment is ongoing and will be for the rest next a few months, but I understand that she would like to visit the Wimbledon tennis tournament – she is a sponsor – if she wants.

The royal expert added that Kate is going through “good days and bad days” as she continues her cancer treatment.

KATE’S LOVE OF TENNIS

Kate is known to be an avid tennis fan and has rarely missed a tournament since married for Prince William.

She skipped the championships in 2013 – and missed out on Andy Murray’s first Wimbledon win – but that was due to the fact she was pregnant with Prince George at the time.

Princess Kate used to take tennis lessons at the elite Hurlingham Club in Fulhamand even organized training sessions for Prince George with tennis legend Roger Federer.

During an appearance on BBC documentarySue Barker: Our Wimbledon, in 2017, Kate said: “I watched Wimbledon, it was part of my growing up. It’s an essential part of English summer, and I think that really inspires young people, it inspired me when I was younger to get involved in the game. It hasn’t changed either, I think that’s what’s so wonderful.”

Wimbledon takes place over 14 days and this year runs from Monday 1 July to Sunday 14 July, with the women’s singles final scheduled for the last Saturday and the men’s singles final on the last day.

The royal children were photographed cheering on 20-year-old Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz after he defeated seven-time champion Novak Djokovic.

KATE’S HEALTH UPDATE

In a personally written statement released on June 14, Princess Kate said she was making “good progress,” explaining that there are “good days and bad days.”

She wrote that her treatment will be “ongoing and will last a few more months” and that she is “not out of the woods yet.”

Kate added: “I’m learning to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal.”

She also thanked the audience, saying, “Thank you so much for your continued understanding and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”

Kate did not attend the Colonel Analysis on 8 June, but in a letter written to the Irish Guards she revealed: “I hope to be able to represent you all once again soon.”

The Princess of Wales announced on March 22, 2024, that she had been diagnosed with cancer and revealed that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy treatment after post-operative tests came back positive.

She underwent major abdominal surgery in London in January, which at the time was considered non-cancerous.

LATEST APPEARANCE

Princess Kate appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace alongside the King, Queen, Prince William and his children on June 15th.

Last year, King Charles was front and center as he attended the screening alongside his son and heir to the throne, Prince William.

However, the line-up was switched this year so that the monarch could stand alongside his beloved daughter-in-law, Kate.

Both King Charles and Princess Kate are undergoing cancer treatment, and heartwarming images show them shoulder to shoulder in front of the crowd.

The royal duo looked united as they smiled and watched fans gathered at The Mall.
