PRINCE William operated a water pump today after jumping into a fire engine to attack a burning plane.
Wills, 42, returned to see his old friends at his RAF Search and Rescue base in Wales.
He spent three years at RAF Valley on Anglesey serving as a pilot between 2010 and 2013.
It is home to No. 4 Flying Training School (4FTS), responsible for training the UK’s next generation of world-class fighter pilots.
The first stop of the day was at the Air Traffic Control Tower, where the Prince toured the control rooms and heard from staff about the new surveillance equipment.
He then found out about a £44 million project that is currently underway to refurbish the second runway at RAF Valley.
The Prince of Wales then witnessed a training exercise as crew members took part in a fire response drill.
He presented the Prince of Wales Award to Flight Lieutenant Jake Fleming, which recognizes the best Qualified Flying Instructor in
the 4FTS.
When William left RAF Valley in 2013, he said: “I know I speak for Catherine when I say that I have never in my life known a place as beautiful and welcoming as Anglesey.
“I know we will both miss this so much when my search and rescue mission ends next month and we have to move somewhere else.
“From the bottom of my heart, thank you for making my wife and I feel so welcome when we came here, as you do with thousands of visitors every year.”
He said the island was their first home and would always be an “immensely special place for both of us.”
He added: “Catherine and I look forward to returning again and again in the coming years with our family.”
