There were hopes that Kate, who is the patron of The All England The Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club (AELTC) was due to take part in the finals of the Wimbledon Championships this weekend.

Kensington Palace has confirmed that Kate, 42, will be at the tennis tournament tomorrow for the men’s final, but will not be attending Saturday’s women’s final.

Speaking about the announcement, royal historian Hugh Vickers told The Sun: “I think it’s extremely good News because not only will Wimbledon have the most exciting game of the men’s final tomorrow, with Djokovic facing Alcaraz, but also the presence of Catherine, Princess of Wales, will just be the icing on the cake because everyone was hoping so much that she would do well enough to attend.

“And we were told that she is still undergoing treatment and therefore has to take things day by day.

“She told us in her last message at the time of Trooping the Color that she is not out of the woods yet.

“So every appearance is a step forward and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate tomorrow than by being at Wimbledon.”

The royal expert added that both the crowd and viewers will be “absolutely thrilled” to see the Princess of Wales.

Kate was last seen in public at Trooping the Color on June 15 – with Prince William proudly by her side.

Before Trooping the Color, Kate hadn’t been seen with the royal family since last year’s Christmas Day at Sandringham.

Hugh continued: “In every way possible, it’s a good sign.

Princess Kate’s cancer message contained many hidden messages. It will save lives, say real experts

“Catherine became president of the All England tennis club in 2016 – the Duke of Kent was always the person who had been there before, and there was something of a gradual handover – and she loves tennis.

“And so instead of having to watch at home, it’s wonderful to think that she’ll be in the royal box because we’ve missed her so much this year.

“And I assume she will also present the trophy. So this is all very positive news.”

Deborah Jevans, president of the AELTC, will present the women’s trophy today at the princess’ request to Jasmine Paolini or Barbora Krejcikova.

Prince William is a pillar of strength for Kate Middleton

EXPERT analysis from author and real expert, Ingrid Seward.

Steadfast when his family needed him, William proved himself to be a man and future monarch of strength and compassion.

While he may not have been present during Kate’s courageous video speech — make no mistake, he was by her side every step of the way.

William stepped up with schoolwork and provided a “great source of comfort and security” for his wife.

But he has also been a comforting, reassuring presence for audiences.

From leading members of the Royal Family in the Commonwealth Day Service to enjoying lighthearted banter with young people on a visit to a youth center, he didn’t put a foot wrong.

Still, there were few flaws in his façade – but Kate was clearly on his mind.

“She needs to be sitting here to hear this,” he smiled when the discussion turned to the challenges of young families.

But ultimately, he is only human.

Having your father and wife diagnosed with cancer in such quick succession is heartbreaking.

It is a remarkable insight into this young man’s character that he was so incredibly brave.

Theirs is a very private turmoil, which has been brought into the public arena by the nature of their roles as future King and Queen.

William must feel the weight of an enormous responsibility, both personally and to the monarchy, of which he is now the public face.

But he knows his most important role is as a father and husband.

He will make this his priority.

This is a distinct difference from the customs of the past, where your royal role came before the role of spouse and parent.

Think back to when the queen was young.

William’s priority is his family

Back then, it was a man’s world – and she was forced to abandon her children in a way that William is determined not to do.

William and Kate waited until the school term was over and their children were home before making the public announcement.

They needed to be prepared.

In this, they will have the unconditional support of Charles – who knows what it’s like to be raised by nannies.

William was also acutely aware of his father’s lack of presence in his life, especially when things went wrong.

In 1991, he was accidentally hit in the head with a golf club when he was at school and Diana was having lunch at her favorite restaurant, San Lorenzo.

The call came that William had been hit in the head and they thought he might die, so it was very serious.

Charles and Diana rushed to Ludgrove.

William was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital and then to Great Ormond Street Hospital and Diana went with him.

But always a man of duty, Charles prioritized his commitments.

William is determined to do things differently.

Tennis bosses recently revealed they remain hopeful the Princess of Wales will go to Wimbledon this year.

AELTC president Debbie previously said they were “remaining flexible” about who would present the trophies.

Traditionally, Kate does the honor, in her role as patron of the group.

Debbie said Telegraph sport: “We hope that the Princess of Wales can present the trophies as Patron of the Club, but she health and recovery is the priority.

“We don’t know what we don’t know. All we’ve said is we’ll work with her and give her as much flexibility as possible.”

She added: “I don’t know who would present the trophies as an alternative – that is something to consider closer to the date if necessary.

“We will remain flexible. When we hear it, we’ll think about what the right thing to do is.”

KATE’S BIG APPEAL

Legendary former royal correspondent Charles Rae told The Sun’s Royal Exclusive program that there is a big reason why Wimbledon organizers would “love” to have her back.

Speaking to our royal editor Matt Wilkinson, he said: “I think people at Wimbledon would love to have Catherine back because it will increase attendance and increase people’s presence there.

“The problem is that when we found out about her cancer, several people were marking when she would return.

“She would be back at the end of April, she would be back for Trooping or whatever.

“We just don’t know when she’ll be back.”

Another expert previously said Kate would “love” to go to Wimbledon this year if her health allows.

REAL HEALTH JOURNEY

Kate was taken to hospital for planned abdominal surgery in January and spent 13 nights at the London Clinic before continuing her recovery at home with her family.

In March, Kate bravely released a video revealing that “post-op tests found cancer was present” and that she had started preventive cancer treatment.

The princess said the diagnosis came as a “huge shock” – but promised: “I’m fine and getting stronger every day.”

Princess Kate gave an update on her health last month – just hours before Trooping the Color.

MESSAGE FROM KATE

She told how her treatment is “ongoing and will last a few more months”, as she revealed that she is “not out of the woods yet”.

But she said how it is a “joy” for her to still be involved in school life and dedicate time “to the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to work a little from home.”

She said: “I have been overwhelmed by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last few months.

“It really made a big difference to William and me and helped us through some of the most difficult times.

“I’m making good progress, but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days.

“On those bad days you feel weak, tired and have to give in
your body resting.

“But on good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of the feeling of well-being.”
