The royals smiled from ear to ear as they proudly presented trophies to Wimbledon champion Carlos Alacaraz and runner-up Novak Djokovic after the intense Grand Slam.

And royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said he thought we’d be seeing more of Kate from now on.

He told The Sun: “I think it meant a lot to the Princess of Wales to be there in the first place, to do her duty as patron of the All England Tennis Club, and there’s no doubt that Wimbledon is very close to her heart, what the game of tennis is like.

“It was also a very meaningful moment when she received a standing ovation, because it shows how deeply people have cared for her during these very difficult months, when she is after a major abdominal operation, undergoing preventive chemotherapy, which is so scary.”

The royal expert highlighted how Kate’s Wimbledon appearance is only her second since releasing an emotional statement in the days leading up to Trooping the Color last month.

Fitzwilliams said there was “a hint” in her message – that she hoped to attend other events in the summer – that the royals would attend Wimbledon.

“She was always in good shape and always loved tennis. So this was absolutely the perfect role for her,” he continued.

“But the statement also talked about how difficult it was, with good and bad days, with preventative chemotherapy.

“The fact that she was unable to attend the women’s singles final also emphasizes the fact that she is acting very, very carefully, following the advice of her doctors.”

The commentator described Princess Kate as “relaxed and at ease” during the event – and praised her appearance as vital and “very cheerful” for the royal family.

“I think if you wear a purple dress as stunning as that, and carry it with the poise and beauty that only she can, she knew where the main attention, besides the tennis court of course, would be. ,” he added.

Looking ahead, Fitzwilliams also believes more appearances “could very well” be on the horizon.

“It’s a very difficult time for the royal family, with two senior royals, including the king, battling cancer, and this is certainly a step forward, a step forward that makes people happy that everyone can receive, and where a standing ovation was so well deserved,” he added.

It comes after the princess awarded 21-year-old champion Carlos Alcaraz his golden cup as he retained his Wimbledon title against rival Novak Djokovic.

She also handed Djokovic, 37, his runner-up trophy after the thrilling clash.

The mother-of-three wore a custom version of Safiyaa’s Cecilia dress in purple from Wimbledon in the royal box today.

Body language analysis

By James Halpin

Body language expert Judi James gave a detailed analysis of Kate’s arrival at her place.

Judi said there was “nothing understated or casual” about Kate’s purple dress and very regal arrival.

She said: “Dressed in a deep shade of royal purple and flanked by her ward Charlotte, she arrived projecting signs of confidence and upbeat authority.

“If there was any sign of inner nervousness or anxiety, it only came in the form of two self-comforting gestures to smooth her hair when she stopped to shake hands and chat.

“When Kate is at her best, she has three ‘tells’: her posture is erect, with her arms extended at her sides; her smile embraces dimples and her nose wrinkles in a gesture of playful amusement.

“Kate got here using at least one of these ‘instruments,’ walking with her arms hanging at her sides.”

Kate didn’t arrive at Wimbledon alone, with daughter Charlotte in tow.

The nine-year-old girl shows more signs of growth by radiating “confidence” and “independence”.

Judi said she was: “just being touched on the back by Kate as a signaling gesture as she was moved forward when it was her turn to shake
hands.”

“It was so easy to see how Charlotte uses her mother as a body language model.

“Standing waiting with her hands clasped behind her back, she suddenly saw that Kate had clasped hers in front of her torso and immediately changed pose to mirror her mother in an act of the same kind of hero worship we used to see as George mirrored his father
William.”

As Kate walked down the stairs to take her seat, she received a rapturous standing ovation.

Judi said: “Kate arrived to sit down with a modest nod as the crowd saw her and the first cheers of approval began.

“His eyes lifted in a gesture of greeting and acknowledgment of the fans’ support, followed by a small ritual of silent appreciation as the standing ovation began.

“Stopping to create a very sweet and touching tie sign as an expression of shyness, surprise and joy, Kate showed her second signature ‘statement’ of genuine pleasure as the dimpled smile appeared as she raised a hand in a low tone and no – formal but very personal wave of recognition and thanks.”

Judi stated that Kate showed her third account to her daughter Charlotte as the two sat down.

She said: “Gently guiding Charlotte to her seat, Kate finally gave her third ‘tale’ of fun and good humor as her nose wrinkled as she laughed with the woman sitting next to her.

“As Kate waved to the crowd, Charlotte’s body language showed that she is also her mother’s number one fan.

“Looking at Kate and leaning back slightly, she smiled a smile of complete pride, as if echoing the crowd’s reaction.

“When Kate sat down, the two shared a laugh as they settled in to watch the tennis.”

She also wore her little bow pin to commemorate the occasion.

Meanwhile, Princess Charlotte looked adorable in a navy blue and white polka dot dress, accessorized with a blue bow hair accessory.

The young woman couldn’t stop smiling as she met Emma Radacanu before sitting down.

This marks Kate’s second public appearance of the year amid cancer treatment and her first event since she attended Trooping the Color for King Charles’ birthday last month.

Princess Kate revealed her shock diagnosis earlier this year after being admitted to hospital for major abdominal surgery.

Kate’s Wimbledon appearance comes just days after Queen Camilla watched an epic quarter-final showdown.

Camilla attended the tenth day of the Championships, where she met Olympic silver medalist Laura Robson and coach Jamie Delgado, who holds the men’s record for playing 23 consecutive games at Wimbledons.

Camilla told Laura it was “really nice to be able to escape for a day.”

‘DETERMINED KATE’

By Summer Raemason

Royal expert Ingrid Seward told The Sun: “It was a long-standing promise that Kate would take Charlotte to the finals as a special gift.

“Kate felt guilty about not being able to spend as much time as she would have liked with the children because of her exhaustion after treatment.

“Charlotte has always loved tennis and her mother Kate took her to Hurlingham when she was very young to play tennis there.

“Kate was taught by her father Michael. William was taught by his mother
Diana and tennis run in the big family on both sides.

“So it’s a super special day for Kate to be able to share this with Charlotte and a lot more fun for her to have Charlotte there and explain to her the details of what’s going on.

“It’s also a distraction so she doesn’t feel busy and the center of everyone’s attention. Charlotte is also there to divert things from her.

“Kate was determined to be at Wimbledon on the day of the final if possible.

“She knew she probably wouldn’t survive the two days. But I’m sure we could see George in Germany tonight with his father.”
