KING Charles was invited for a chat by Love Island presenter Maya Jama at a party at Buckingham Palace.
The king and Maya gathered on the lawn as the royals hosted a garden party for entertainment stars including Sirs Ridley Scott and Lenny Henry.
Among the 4,000 guests who mingled with the King, 75, and Queen, 76, were Strictly star Tess Daly, 55, and her husband Vernon Kay, 50.
Maya, 29, wearing a blue checkered dress and matching wide-brimmed hat, told the king: “I present Love Islandbut I suppose you haven’t heard of it.”
The king shrugged his shoulders in a diplomatic and gentle manner and continued talking to his glamorous guest, saying: “One is born every minute.”
Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, 60, and the Duchess of Gloucester, 77, also brought royal stardust to the second garden party of the year.
And for the 75-year-old king, who revealed just three months ago that he has cancer, it was his fifth public engagement in three days.
Previously he had been accompanied by the Queen76 years old, both wearing pink vestments, attended a service for the Order of the British Empire at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Their joint appearance comes as no royals joined Harry in his service at the Invictus Games just seven days earlier.
The king returned to public service last month after his doctors were pleased with his response to cancer treatment.
The Creative Industries Garden Party was held with the support of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to celebrate 4,000 people in the areas of culture, art, heritage, filmTELEVISION, radio and fashion.
Other star-studded guests included Gladiator director Sir Ridley Scott, 86, actress Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, 37, and radio star Roman Kemp, 31.
Sir Lenny Henry, 65, Homeland star David Harewood, 58, and Toby Jones, 57, from Mr Bates v The Mailit also brought the glamor of the screen to the palace lawn.
Artist Tracey Emin, 60, who was diagnosed with cancer four years ago, also joined the party and after meeting the King said: “We talk about health and painting.
“He asked me if I was recovering, which I am, and it was lovely to see the Queen too. I complimented them on their pinks – she said it wasn’t intentional.”
Former Strictly judge Arlene Philips, 80, was introduced to the Queen and told afterwards. “She remembered me when we last met. It was at a show after I got dumped from Strictly and she said how much she missed me, which was really sweet.
“She asked me what I’ve been doing lately and I explained that I was doing the choreography for Guys and Dolls. She said she had taken her grandchildren to see it and they loved it.”
