ENGLAND captain Harry Kane says the team is looking forward to Euro success after receiving a pep talk from Prince William.

But he laughed at a suggestion of Prince Louis that the team should eat double portions of food to achieve this.

As President of the FA, the Prince of Wales was a Wembley regular during the last Euros in 2021 and is set to travel to Germany to support the Three Lions this month.

He gave Southgate and his 26-man squad impromptu advice at St George’s Park yesterday as they prepared to depart ahead of Sunday’s opener with Serbia.

He said: “I was at school this morning with the kids and I said, ‘What should I say to the England team? I’m seeing them today’. The best advice I received was to eat twice the amount you normally would.

“Then I had visions of you running around, with huge bellies and lots of points on the field. So maybe take my youngest son’s advice with a pinch of salt, especially around the physical therapy team.”

Laughing at six-year-old Louis’ suggestion Bayern Munich attacker Kane, 30, said: “We have to be careful with this. I don’t think a nutritionist would have been very happy with that advice – but it’s great to have Prince William here.

“He’s a big supporter and has been to a few camps before the big tournaments. It just gives us extra motivation.”

Each member of the squad then received a box containing a special shirt to be worn in the tournament.

It also featured the history of the number they would wear and a personalized reminder of how they fell in love with the game when they were young.

Kane included a photo of him as a boy with the Ridgeway Rovers Football Club logo – and the words “Harry Kane: All-Time Top Scorer”.

Rovers is the club from Chingford, East London, where he played as a boy.

Prince William, who is an Aston Villa fan, plans to travel to Germany to watch the Three Lions when they face Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia in Group C.

Captain Kane said: “He loves it. He’s a big football fan, his kids are obviously big fans now too. We know how much this means to the country, to the fans – and that includes everyone from the Royal Family to the retailers.

“The whole nation comes together and we feel a responsibility to try to make them proud.

“The only way to do that is to go out and give everything for this badge that we wear.”

Wills joined Southgate, Kane, Villa striker Ollie Watkins, 28, and former Lioness Jill Scott, 37, at the David Beckham Pitch at St George’s Park to watch a tournament played by children from local schools.

William told some kids that he was “never good at scoring” as he often played defense.

Rows of police vans

Later, the England team took off from Birmingham Airport for a 90-minute flight to Erfurt, in central Germany. Security was beefed up at the airport for their arrival.

Lines of police vans appeared, as well as heavily armed police teams and a military helicopter. Hundreds of local residents turned out to welcome the team. The biggest roars were saved for Kane and Real Madrid’s 20-year-old midfield ace Jude Bellingham.

The crowd serenaded Kane by singing “Harry, Harry, Harry.”

Many were convinced that England have a better chance of lifting the trophy than Germany.

Jackie Williams, 47, from Erfurt, said: “Germany have improved lately so they have a chance, but England have the better players.”

England spent £800,000 reserving the entire 94-bedroom Weimarer Land Golf and Spa Resort – set on 350 acres with three golf courses – in Blankenhain.

Resort bosses have installed all UK TV channels in every room to ensure spoiled gamers don’t miss a second of their favorite shows – including Love Island.

Midfielder Declan Rice, 25, said the reality show was a must. He also revealed that each gamer has a PlayStation gaming console. The Three Lions remain 3-1 favorites to win Euro 2024, ahead of France and Germany.
