PRINCESS Kate was recently crowned the most popular royal – and that could be due to the fact she exudes “warmth” and doesn’t look “fake”, according to a royal expert.

Royal editor Ingrid Seward exclusively told The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson why the prince and princess of Wales resonated more with the public than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

On The Sun’s Royal Show, Ingrid said: “I think it’s the heat between them [William and Kate] – it is not fake and emits heat.

“And of course Kate is a photographer’s dream.

“She is so beautiful and William is a very handsome young man.

“And I think it’s natural.

“See, with Meghan, I feel like she has an expression, a big smile, and I feel like that’s all and it doesn’t feel natural.”

Ingrid shared how Kate and William have the same “magic” that Princess Diana – nicknamed the “People’s Princess” – had when meeting the public.

She continued: “With Kate and William it’s just a affection that they have and it exudes to everyone around them the magic that Diana had.

“As nervous as Diana was about meeting people or going out alone, the minute she was there, she exuded this warmth and friendliness and that’s what Kate and William do.”

New data from YouGov has revealed that Kate is the most popular royal, with 76 per cent of people viewing her positively, representing a six per cent increase since January.

Prince William is the second most popular royal, with an approval rating of 73 percent, Princess Anne was third (71 percent), with King Charles fourth (63 percent).

Meghan and Kate were not treated any differently. She was loved, but I know where it all went wrong

Prince Harry (31 percent) and Meghan Markle (26 percent) came in lower on the list, with only Prince Andrew (six percent) below them in the table.

Royal expert Phil Dampier hailed Kate as the “box office star of the royal family”, with her absence sorely missed with her recent health concerns.

The Princess of Wales, 42, took a break from royal duties following abdominal surgery planned for January and her announcement that cancer had been found.

With Kate and William it’s just a affection that they have and that transmits to everyone around them the magic that Diana had.

Last month, Kate discussed her “huge shock” at the discovery and said she began a course of “preventive chemotherapy” at the end of February.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex released a short statement following the announcement, which said: “We wish Kate and her family health and healing and hope they can do so privately and in peace.”

It is understood the couple reached out to Kate and William after News broke the diagnosis of the mother of three.

MEGXIT TERMS

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced on January 8, 2020 that they would step down as “senior” members of the Royal Family.

On January 18, it was announced that the Sussexes would “no longer be working members of the British Royal Family” and would not use their “Royal Highness” titles.

A palace spokeswoman said the couple would no longer receive public money and would reimburse the £2.4 million cost of renovating their country home – Frogmore – in Windsor, Berks.

The following day, Harry said in a heartfelt speech: “Our hope was to continue to serve the Queen, the Commonwealth and my military associations without public funding. Unfortunately, this was not possible.”

The Duke of Sussex said he found “the love and happiness I have waited for all my life” with Meghan.

Kate’s announcement came just months after King Charles revealed on January 17 that he had been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate and was due to go to hospital.

At the time, the palace said that his condition was “benign” and that he would undergo “a corrective procedure”.

Kate was last seen on public duty on Christmas Day and has been unable to fulfill official engagements since having surgery in January.

She is unlikely to return before April 17, when her children return to Lambrook School, near Ascot, after the Easter holidays.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently living in Santa Barbara, California, with their children Prince Archie, four, and Princess Lilibet, after stepping down as senior royals in 2020.
