AMAZON is in crisis talks over its blockbuster Prince Andrew after streaming rivals Netflix won plaudits for their version.

The three-part series A Very Royal Scandal is not due to air until October – six months after Scoop, which launched on April 5.

And bosses are desperately looking for ideas that spark interest.

A source said: “Amazon is in crisis talks.

“They spent a lot of money and they’re really worried that when it comes out, audiences will think, ‘We watched that,’ and it will fail.”

A Very Royal Scandal covers Emily Maitlis’ interview with Prince Andrew on Newsnight from the former BBC journalist’s perspective.

One idea includes having Maitlis – who is a producer on the show – question actress Ruth Wilson, who plays her.

The Sun previously revealed photos of co-star Michael Sheen as Andrew.

The source added: “Releasing Scoop first was the best thing.

“Amazon appears to have already lost the battle with Netflix.”
