“Like, ‘No, that’s not true.’ And it was really kind of ugly. And I let it go for a while.

Costner went on to say that he wanted to contact the Royal Family, but the Duchess of York advised against it.

“She said, ‘No, no, no, Kev, you don’t want to talk to them.’ I said, ‘Yes, I want to.’ I called them.”

“I said, ‘I’m telling you something, you need to stop because it’s true. And if you don’t stop, I’m going to start. Because it was.'”

SWEET DIANA

Before her tragic death and the events that unfolded before Costner, the 69-year-old called Princess Diana “very sweet” in her initial conversations about the film.

“She say yes. My life is about to change,’” he recalled.

“I didn’t really delve into it, but I thought I understood what she was saying. She was very kind.”

He revealed that Princess Diana was open to sharing an on-screen kiss during the film.

“The second time we talked, she said, ‘Is there going to be a kissing scene?’

“I said, ‘Do you want there to be one?'” To which she replied, “Yes.”

Costner concluded the conversation about the late princess by saying, “I wasn’t going to make the whole romance about her.

“But there would come a time when we would do that. And she was so sweet about it.”
