KING Charles has joined the army of Sun readers in sending their support for the Three Lions ahead of the Euro final.

It happened as it was confirmed last night that Prince William would fly to Germany for the match.

Charles – along with actor Idris Elba – posed in an England shirt at St James’s Palace yesterday to show his support for the Three Lions.

This came after he joked that it would be better for the country’s health if England did not come out so late to claim victory again.

His Majesty, 75, said in a message to the team after their last-minute semi-final victory over the Dutch: “My wife and I join all our family in wishing you the warmest congratulations on arriving to the UEFA European Championship final – and sending our best wishes for Sunday’s game.

“If I can encourage him to secure victory before the need for any last-minute wonder goal or other penalty drama, I’m sure the stress on the nation’s collective heart rate and blood pressure would be greatly alleviated! Good luck, England.

William, who is president of the FA, was in the crowd at Denmark’s group stage game and the dramatic penalty shootout win against Switzerland in the quarter-finals.

He was seen raising his fists in the air in celebration after the shooting.

Meanwhile, a legion of Sun readers joined their voices in supporting England to go all the way and bring home the trophy.

Jordan Pickford fan Jackson Reed, eight, said: “Second time lucky boys, we believe in you!” Ivan Jones wrote: “Good luck, Gareth. Don’t leave it too late this time. I don’t have any more nails.”

Thomas Cooper said: “I have followed England all my life and have never been so proud to be English. I always believed in you, Gareth, even when you missed the penalty at Euro 96.

“But all is forgiven, as you and the boys have given me the best moments over the years you have been coaches.”

Sven-Göran Eriksson’s rallying cry for England

Tony Rimmington said: “Good luck. One last push, boys, and we’re home.

And Sylvia Turner added: “Good luck England and Gareth. I hope you win. You gave us back a brighter summer on the edge of our seats. Bring it home, boys.

Harry Singleton, from Ashton-under-Lyne, Gtr Manchester, said: “Two weeks ago a lot of fans wanted Gareth Southgate to be beheaded. Winning the England game on the return to our shores will be ‘coming up Sir Gareth Southgate’.

Nora Kent, from Eton Wick, Berkshire, wrote: “What a great team these young men have turned out to be under Gareth’s guidance. Good luck, the nation is behind you, wanting you to go until the last minute of the game.”

Helen and Peter Bennison offered a poem: “Good luck and do your best. With three lions on his chest. Wear your vest with pride. And sweep the Spaniards aside.”

And Christopher Harris said: “Good luck to the Three Lions on Sunday. It is written in the stars that we will win.

“The last time we won a major trophy, in the 1966 World Cup, Labor were in power. He guesses? They’re back in power, so come on, it’s your time to win.”

Best friend, Idris

The king and actor Idris Elba show their support for the Three Lions – while urging the government to help tackle youth knife crime.

Charles invited the star, as well as Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and young people, to St James’s Palace to discuss the problem of violence.

Your King’s Trust has been working with Idris’s Hope Foundation to support teenagers. Charles said he would be “watching and waiting for the progress” of the new government.

Idris, 51, said governments past and present are willing to listen, but “now is a time for change, not talk.”

In a lighter moment ahead of tomorrow’s big game, they posed with younger guests as they all stood tall in England.
