PRINCE Harry hid a snub for the Royal Family in a glitzy new video filmed in his backyard, a royal expert has claimed.

The Duke of Sussex this week donned his military gear at his home in Montecito to present an award to a soldier – but left out a crucial medal.

One of the medals was the Operational Service Medal for Afghanistan, which Harry earned as a helicopter pilot in Helmand in 2008.

Harry also showed off his Golden Jubilee, Diamond Jubilee and Platinum Jubilee medals.

However, eagle-eyed royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams noticed he wasn’t wearing his Coronation Medal – and believes it was a deliberate move.

Speaking to The Sun, he explained: “If you look at the medals that Harry chose to wear, what you don’t find is the Coronation Medal, and that, I think is extraordinary.

“The Sussexes are well aware that everything they do, everything they wear, everything they say, will be scrutinized.

“If you consider that it is almost certain that he will come (to Britain) to provide service on the notable Invictus Games.

“The problem is that if he decides not to wear the coronation medal, it will certainly be seen as an affront to King Charles.”

The medal functions as a symbol of the nation’s thanks to those who contributed to the king’s coronation.

This happened after the prince was banned from wearing his ceremonial military uniform because he was no longer a royal.

Fitzwilliams believes the fact that he decided to wear his medals shows how closer he feels to his fellow soldiers than to his own family.

Kate and Wills’ wedding anniversary will be ‘very different to normal’ after ‘difficult year’

Speaking to The Sun, he explained: “That’s unquestionable, but he has always considered the military to be an extended family, and he says so from time to time.

“He paid tribute to that. Invictus is one of the things he clearly gave back because he helps injured service personnel.

“I think he believes the military was a fundamental part of his life. So obviously, when appropriate, he wears his medals, and obviously this has been the subject of controversy before.

“I mean, he’s not a senior royal and there are rules about that equally. There’s no doubt that the Sussexes don’t like royal rules. Very restrictive.

“I think there is no doubt that Harry is proud of his medals, and it is part of his past that he is proud of.

“There are those who comment that much of his past, he was raised, after all, to be a loyal member of the royal family.

He hasn’t been around for the last four years – because he and Megan have caused so much damage to the royal family in their attacks.”

Prince Harry’s medals

2002 – The Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal was awarded to all who were on active service on 6 February 2002 and who had been in the armed forces for five years.

2008 – Afghanistan Operational Service Medal to mark his frontline service in Helmand Province.

2012 – The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal, awarded to mark her grandmother’s sixtieth year on the throne in 2012 and awarded to all members of the Armed Forces, emergency services, prison services and members of the Royal Household.

2022 – Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Medal In the Queen’s procession, Harry wore Gold, Diamond and Platinum Jubilee medals, as well as the KCVO Star, representing the Royal Victorian Order and the Afghanistan Service Medal on his chest.

In the video, the Duke presented Sergeant First Class Elizabeth Marks with a Soldier of the Year gong at his £12million California home.

In a clip filmed at his back door, Harry hailed American combat medic Marks as a “friend” and “beacon of inspiration.”

Harry recorded the video tribute for an awards ceremony organized by news website Military Times, which Marks attended in person.

He told veterans watching the speech: “Know that your community and, indeed, the international community are grateful.

‘Grateful for all the sacrifices you and your family have made, grateful for your service to your country.

“Thankful for carrying on the important values we’ve learned. Tonight, it’s for you. Thank you for everything you’ve done.”Harry was last seen wearing his medals in a comedy video he filmed for Stand Up for Heroes last November .
