Charles, who marks the first year of his and Camilla’s coronation tomorrow, looked dapper as he wore a gray suit and a navy blue tie with red stripes.

The king’s trip to church followed a busy week that marked his return to public engagements since being diagnosed with cancer earlier in the year.

Her Majesty chose to make her public return by visiting a cancer hospital.

The monarch and Queen Camilla, 76, visited the Macmillan Cancer Center at University College Hospital in London, where they met with staff who treat and offer support to cancer patients.

The king also attended the Royal Windsor Horse Show yesterday in scenes of jubilation.

He was photographed tenderly hugging his niece Zara Tindall, a former Olympic rider, at his third royal engagement this week.

The king returned to public duties this week after asking aides to “overload his schedule”.

But it has now been revealed that William is worried about his father doing too many things too soon.

A source close to the prince said The times: “He wants to make sure his father is balancing his recovery.

“He knows his dad loves working, but he worries about him.”

CANCER TREATMENT

This came after the king spent almost three months out of the public eye as he began his cancer treatment.

First, Charles was treated for an enlarged prostate and then revealed his cancer diagnosis.

This was quickly followed by the announcement that the Princess of Wales also had cancer.

The Palace did not reveal what type of cancer the King has, nor what treatment he has received.

King Charles’ return to public duties

Everything you need to know about the King’s return.

Q: Does today’s announcement mean that King Charles’ cancer treatment has been successful or completed?

A: The King’s treatment program is ongoing, but doctors are “sufficiently satisfied” with the progress so far and Charles can now resume several public duties. Other real commitments will be adapted where necessary to reduce any recovery risks.

Q: How long will King Charles receive treatment?

A: Although it’s too early to tell, King’s medical team is “very encouraged” by the progress made so far and remains “positive” about his recovery.

Q: How many engagements will King Charles undertake in the coming weeks and months?

A: They will be announced closer to the time in the usual manner and will remain under doctor’s direction. It will not be a full summer program. Her Majesty will continue with all official State and selected public business.

Q: Is there a risk that King Charles is taking on too much responsibility with these external roles?

A: King’s schedule will be carefully crafted to meet his recovery needs and he will be in close consultation with his medical team.

Q: Will King Charles take part in the birthday parade, D-Day celebrations, garden parties, Royal Ascot or an autumn tour abroad?

A: Planning continues regarding ways in which the King and Queen will be able to attend these summer and fall engagements. All plans remain under the doctor’s guidance.

Q: How is King Charles?

A: The Palace said: “Her Majesty is greatly encouraged to resume public duties and is very grateful to her medical team for their continued care and expertise.

What we do know is that he began a “regular treatment program” in February and doctors are pleased with his progress.

A statement said: “No further details are being released at this stage other than to confirm that Her Majesty does not have prostate cancer.”

Meanwhile, it is understood that Prince Harry will be at St Paul’s Cathedral for an Invictus Games ceremony and is “very excited” to see his father.

Harry and Charles spoke for 30 minutes in February – days after the king’s cancer diagnosis.

The royal is expected to attend Buckingham Palace’s first garden party of the year from 4pm.

King makes appearance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show

Both events will end around 6pm, paving the way for the first meeting since Harry’s trip in early February.

A royal source told The Sun: “Harry is normally 5,000 miles away in California, but by happy coincidence on Wednesday they will be just two miles away.

“It is clear he is looking forward to seeing his father as he continues his recovery and most people are hoping for another type of reunion next week.”

The potential meeting is unlikely to include Prince William, who was struck by his brother’s attacks and has not spoken to him since Queen Elizabeth’s funeral.

The royal brothers have largely avoided each other in recent years as their relationship has turned frosty.

William will be out of the capital on Thursday and on Friday he will have commitments in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

Meghan is not expected to join Harry at the cathedral.
