ANGE POSTECOGLOU joked he would be “happy to disappoint” King Charles by leading Spurs to victory over Burnley tomorrow.

It comes after the Spurs manager was invited to Buckingham Palace earlier this week.

At today’s pre-match press conference he was reminded that the King pledged allegiance to Burnley in 2012.

When asked if he was ready to disappoint the monarch, Postecoglou joked: “That’s probably why they kept him away from me, mate.

“I’ll be happy to disappoint you on that front mate. No problem.”

This comes after Postecoglou visited the palace on Wednesday as a guest of the Australian government.

He was joined by fellow Australians Scott Munn, Spurs director of operations, first team coach Mile Jedinak and Charlotte Grant of the women’s team.

The guests, however, did not meet royalty during their visit.

The most pressing concern for the Spurs boss is the need to rectify an alarming situation within his squad.

Postecoglou set an unwanted record of four consecutive defeats following last weekend’s 4-2 loss to Liverpool – a feat that has not been done at Tottenham for 20 years.

Those defeats have come to Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and the aforementioned Liverpool – and Burnley should offer a chance of relief.

The Clarets are currently 19th in the table and a victory for Spurs would relegate Vincent Kompany’s side.

Spurs’ loss of form makes them look more over their shoulders than ahead of fourth place right now, and three points would help them keep a resurgent Newcastle and Chelsea at bay.

Who do the Royals support?

Ange Postecoglou said he was “ready to disappoint

Prince William – Aston Villa Prince William is a well-known Aston Villa fan and a regular attendee of their games. He is friends with former Villa hero John Carew and is often seen with him at Villa Park. He said he chose Villa because he didn’t want to be like his friends, who gravitated towards Arsenal.

King Charles – Burnley Although Charles was never a football fan, he came to support Burnley after a visit to Turf Moor in 2012. He said he developed a soft spot for the club after their charity worked in the local area.

Prince George – Aston Villa The Prince appears to be following in his father’s footsteps as a Villa fan. The pair have been spotted at Villa games throughout the season as the club battles for the Champions League.

Princess Kate – Chelsea Although she has never confirmed that she is a Blues fan, Kate is said to be a Chelsea supporter. This came from a charity visit to the area in 2015. One of the children present at the event said: “We said hello because she supports Chelsea and I support Chelsea. I love people who support Chelsea.”

Prince Harry – Arsenal Prince Harry revealed he was an Arsenal fan in 2017. His loyalty was shared when he was visiting the England rugby team and was asked by a fan who the royals supported.
