KING Charles was seen beaming this evening – just hours after Queen Camilla gave an update on his health.
The Monarch was all smiles as he chatted to people at a special gala held at London’s Royal Opera House.
Wearing a bow tie, Charles looked dapper as he shook hands with English-Italian conductor and pianist Antonio Pappano.
The event was a big celebration for the musical director, who was celebrating 22 years at the Royal Opera House.
Charles’ appearance comes after palace sources said he was working to “overload his diary” upon returning to public duties.
The king was seen just hours after his wife told the crowd he was “getting better”, before joking “well he would be if he behaved well”.
Camilla, 76, made the comment today while with guests at a garden party in Rye, East Sussex.
There she was treated to a performance by actors Timothy West, 89, and Hayley Mills, 78, while seated next to Prunella Scales, 91.
She added that her husband, the king, was “very angry” that he could not be there.
Charles recently returned to public duties following his cancer diagnosis, after demanding that his aides “overload” his schedule, saying he was “raring to go.”
The Sun also previously revealed that Camilla asked Charles to “slow down” amid his health problems this year.
Just yesterday, the king was called in for a chat by Love Island presenter Maya Jama at a party at Buckingham Palace.
The two joined on the lawn as the royals hosted a garden party for entertainment stars including Sirs Ridley Scott and Lenny Henry.
Among the 4,000 guests who mingled with the King, 75, and Queen, 76, were Strictly star Tess Daly, 55, and her husband Vernon Kay, 50.
Maya, 29, in a blue checkered dress and matching wide-brimmed hat, told the king: “I present Love Island, but I suppose you’ve never heard of it.”
The king shrugged his shoulders in a diplomatic and gentle manner and continued talking to his glamorous guest, saying: “One is born every minute.”
Prince Edward, the Duke of Edinburgh, 60, and the Duchess of Gloucester, 77, also brought royal stardust to the second garden party of the year.
And for the 75-year-old king, who revealed just three months ago that he has cancer, it was his fifth public engagement in three days.
Earlier, the Queen, 76, joined him, both wearing pink robes, and attended a service for the Order of the British Empire at St Paul’s Cathedral.
