Meanwhile, royal transport is also becoming environmentally friendly, with a permanent sustainable aviation tank being built for helicopters at RAF Odiham in Hants – with the Royals undertaking fewer flights.

And the state’s famous Bentleys will be converted to run on biofuel before being replaced by electric versions.

The plans were revealed in a report, which also explored Charles’ hopes of saving money.

Her Majesty will use profits from offshore wind farm deals on Crown properties to fund renovations to Buckingham Palace.

And there are also plans to rent out parts of St James’s Palace as commercial offices.
