Former Chennai Super Kings batsman Suresh Raina remains one of the most successful players in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Raina, who spent most of his IPL career with CSK, tasted success in the T20 league. While Chennai has had a strong team for almost the entire IPL journey, it is also their culture that has helped the management get the most out of the players. One of these cultures included the rule of not partying late. (IPL 2024 Points Table)

Raina, in an interview, made a subtle criticism of the franchises that are yet to win the IPL, saying only those that haven’t won (the league) and are used to celebrating.

“Chennai never partied. That’s why they were more successful. 2-3 teams that partied still haven’t won the IPL. Laugs (you mean RCB?) No, there are some teams that haven’t won, they must have partied a lot” , said Suresh Raina in a chat on Lallantop.

“We (CSK) didn’t do that. That’s why we have 5 IPL trophies and 2 Champions League trophies. MI also won 5 trophies,” he added.

Raina highlighted the culture of certain franchises where night parties take place. The former Indian star did not hesitate to question how a team can win the IPL with such tendencies.

“If you party until late at night, how will you play in the morning? In the heat of May-June, how will you play in the afternoon if you party all night?” Raina added.

“The whole team was careful not to party late into the night. We are also playing for India, remember. If I don’t play well, why will my captain pick me? Now I’m free, I’ve retired. We can party.” , explained Raina.

Raina, one of the biggest names in IPL history, is now enjoying his career as a commentator in the ongoing IPL 2024.
