Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya was fined Rs 24 lakh following his team’s second slow and excessive attack in the Indian Premier League during the match against Lucknow Super Giants. All other players, including the Impact Player, were individually fined Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lower. MI lost the match by four wickets at the Ekana Stadium on Tuesday.
“Mr. Hardik Pandya, Captain of Mumbai Indians has been fined after his team maintained excessive slow rate during match 48 of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Lucknow Super Giants on April 30, 2024,” IPL said in a statement.
“As it was his team’s second infraction of the season under the IPL Code of Conduct relating to excessive minimum infractions, Pandya was fined INR 24 Lac.
“The rest of the Playing XI members, including Impact Player, have been individually fined INR 6 Lac or 25 percent of their respective playing fees, whichever is less,” it added.
As for the match, Mumbai Indians’ top order was weak as they stuttered to 144 under par for seven, capitalizing on contributions from Nehal Wadhera (46), Ishan Kishan (32) and Tim David (35 not out).
In reply, Stoinis scored a 45-ball 62, studded with seven hits at the fence and two maximums, but after he was out, LSG survived a few anxious moments before reaching home with four balls to spare.
With their sixth win in 10 games, LSG moved up to third position in the IPL standings. MI, on the other hand, slumped to their seventh defeat in 10 games.
