The Indian cricket team for the 2024 T20 World Cup is out. A day before the deadline to name the team, the BCCI selectors and secretary Jay Shah met to make the final decision on the 15 picks. Right choices like captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav were named while there were some surprises too. Veteran wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul did not find a place, while Shubman Gill, arguably India’s best discovery in recent years, was also overlooked. He was named in the reserves.

However, the biggest name missing from the list was Rinku Singh. When Rinku emerged with a great performance in IPL 2023, everyone thought he was India’s answer to solve the problems in T20s. He also made his debut for India after the tournament and did well. However, in IPL 2024, the lack of playing time for KKR may have hurt him. But he didn’t make the top 15 in the T20 WC team and is a reserve.

Harbhajan stated that Rinku should have been included in the team as he has the ability to single-handedly change the complexion of the game.

“I think Rinku Singh should have been included in the team, one player who has the potential to change the game single-handedly and was not included in the team is Rinku,” Harbhajan said on his YouTube channel.
