It might not be too wrong if someone says that Gautam Gambhir has the Midas Touch. Be it Kolkata Knight Riders or Lucknow Super Giants, whichever team Gambhir is on the bench, the perspective of the team changes. It happened with the Lucknow Super Giants in the last two seasons when the former India opener was a mentor. And this is happening once again at KKR, where Gambhir is now the captain. The side is right at the top of the table in IPL 2024.

Gambhir is also known to be a fierce competitor. No one can forget his on-field discussions with other players like Virat Kohli. Gambhir recently reflected on his career.

“Sometimes you need to take an aggressive approach as a leader if you want your team to be aggressive. Sometimes you have to do things you don’t want to do. But I believed that if I wasn’t aggressive and didn’t lead by example, my team wouldn’t play aggressively,” said Gautam Gambhir. Sportskeeda.

“I feel that all players and all leaders have the right to express themselves on the field. A player should not only be judged by the way he is on the field, but the way he is off the field should also be analyzed.”

Gambhir, during his cricket career, had to plan for famous batsmen like AB de Villiers, Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, etc. But it was Rohit against whom he had the toughest time.

“The only batsman I feared is Rohit Sharma. The only batsman who gave me sleepless nights… No Chris Gayle, no AB de Villiers, just Rohit. I always knew I needed to have a Plan A, a Plan B and probably a Plan C too because if Rohit is in, I don’t think anything can control him,” Gambhir told Star Sports.

“I’ve never planned for any other batsman in the IPL except Rohit Sharma. There have been times when I’ve seen footage and said, ‘Fair enough. Plan A is fine’. But for Rohit, the night before I used it I think if that doesn’t work, I will have to look for another plan”, he added.
