Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has had little to celebrate in this 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign. With the franchise sitting 9th in the 10-team points table and the chances of qualifying for the playoffs only mathematically possible, it has been a season to remember for Hardik and his team. But, the victory over the Sunrisers Hyderabad team on Monday provided a moment of joy for Hardik and his teammates as the home team secured a 7-wicket win at Wankhede. More than MI winning, the victory sent a sense of relief to Indian cricket fans as Hardik finally seemed to have regained his bowling form.

Hardik was unable to bat in the match but took 3 wickets for 31 runs in his quota of four overs. After Hardik got rid of SRH batsman Shahbaz Ahmed, even Rohit approached him and gave him a big pat on the back, acknowledging the captain’s success as a bowler.

The victory lifted Mumbai Indians from 10th to 9th place in the points table, although their chances of playoffs are still slim.

After the game, Hardik stated that it is necessary to do the right things in the rest of the campaign as MI are unlikely to finish in the top four.

“We want to focus on playing good cricket, I still think we gave away 10-15 extra runs. in the right areas today and it worked as if Chawla had to bowl from the short side.

“He (Chawla) had to be precise, the margin of error has become smaller these days for bowlers. It’s unbelievable, SKY’s best past is that he puts pitchers under pressure. one of the best hitters. He can change the game in a different way, lucky to have him (SKY) on our side,” he said.
