Having fallen out of the IPL 2024 playoff race, five-time champions Mumbai Indians are playing for pride as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. MI’s season was overshadowed by the controversial decision to replace Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as the franchise’s captain. Rohit, who led MI to five IPL titles during his tenure, was removed as captain by the franchise after Hardik returned to the team from Gujarat Titans (GT). However, the decision to remove Rohit created a huge uproar among the cricket fraternity.

Despite all this, Rohit continues to give everything on and off the field. From helping Hardik with captaincy to grooming the young players, Rohit has managed to keep the dressing room together.

Most importantly, Rohit’s camaraderie with youngsters makes him stand out among his peers. In such a light-hearted manner, Rohit was seen roasting young MI and Indian Tilak Varma.

In a video uploaded by MI, Rohit mocked Tilak, who was wearing flip-flops on the eve of the match against KKR at the Eden Gardens. During the Test series against England earlier this year, Rohit caught the attention of fans on social media with his quote “Garden me ghumega”.

Rohit recreated the same moment with Tilak, who gave a hilarious response to catch the MI icon off guard.

“Yes, hero, kya kar raha hai bhai? Chappal mein ghum raha hai, garden me aaya hai kya? (Yes, hero, what are you doing? Using sliders, are you wandering in a garden?),” said Rohit in a video sent by MI.

“Hai na bhaiya, Eden Gardens (yes, it’s Eden Gardens!),” replied Tilak.

Meanwhile, Rohit will lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, his recent form remains a concern.
