The stage is set for the final before the IPL 2024 final. When Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Chennai Super Kings face off at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday, India will be divided into two camps. The match will pit two great cricket stars, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, against each other, with their teams fighting for the only spot in the playoffs. For MS Dhoni, this could very well be his last IPL match if his team loses.

However, this is all speculation. CSK are currently the favorites to clinch the fourth play-off spot. A win over RCB on Saturday will guarantee progress. If RR and SRH lose their last matches against KKR and Punjab Kings respectively, CSK can also dream of a top two finish provided they have a better net run rate. They can also advance even if they lose to RCB. To do this, the full-back must ensure that the margin of defeat is not large. This will see their NRR remain better than RCB and therefore finish above their rivals in the final points table.

Furthermore, Dhoni holds two important statistical maximums compared to RCB. Dhoni has 43 sixes against RCB – most sixes against an opponent in the IPL. His highest IPL score of 84* was also against the team in 2019.

Former Indian cricket team pacer Varun Aaron feels it will be an MS Dhoni show on Saturday.

“I have a feeling that it will be MS’s show in this game, because everything is preparing for it. I just feel like it will be like this because he loves Chinnaswamy Stadium. they went crazy even after losing a run in the last one against Umesh Yadav, which is actually etched in my memory. I never forget that he scored 20-21 runs alone in the last over, then MS Dhoni at Chinnaswamy. The stadium is very, very dangerous,” Aaron said on Star Sports.

“Also. He’s one of those guys who has a very high pain threshold and goes out of his way to make sure he forgets about his injury,” he added.
