Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan knows how to win people’s hearts. The Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner was on cloud nine after his team defeated SunRisers Hyderabad in a one-sided final to lift the third IPL trophy. KKR first bowled out SRH for a paltry total of 113 and then chased down the target in 10.3 overs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Sunday. After the game, the entire KKR management and team found no limits to their joy and celebrated the victory with utmost happiness.

At this time too, Shah Rukh did not forget to make the Chennai fans happy and did so by shouting “CSK, CSK” with them. It is worth noting that the MA Chidambaram Stadium, where the IPL 2024 final took place, is the home ground of five-time champions Chennai Super Kings. The team failed to make the playoffs this season after finishing fifth in the points table, but SRK made sure their fans had fun even during KKR’s victory.

“Absolutely all-encompassing. This is what we demand from the team and each individual. They rose to the right occasion and it’s difficult to express that feeling,” KKR captain Shreyas Iyer said after the game.

KKR first won the title in 2012, before winning it again in 2014. A long trophy drought followed, which was ended this season.

“(The wait) was very long, longer than the match. We played like invincibles all season. There is a lot to appreciate now. It’s enjoyable, the performance has been impeccable all the time. I’m running out of words now. We went fantastic since the first game, we stepped up today,” said Iyer.

SRH had an excellent IPL 2024 but their batsmen were unable to replicate that form in Qualifier 1 and the final. Earlier, KKR advanced to the final after beating SRH by 8 wickets in Qualification 1.

“All we required of ourselves was to support each other, whatever the situation. The game could have gone either way. They have been playing phenomenal cricket – SRH – throughout the season. We were lucky to bowl first and every situation went in our favor,” Iyer added.
