The Indian junior men’s hockey team lost 2-3 to Germany in a match that lasted until the last minute of their tour of Europe. Yogember Rawat and Gurjot Singh scored for India on Tuesday. The first quarter was very busy, with both teams having opportunities to take the lead on penalties. As neither team overcame each other’s defense, the quarter remained scoreless. Five minutes into the second half, the Germans opened the scoring with a field goal to take the lead.

India continued to prove the resilience they showed in every game on the tour, equalizing through a penalty corner from defender Yogember, ending the first half with the score at 1-1.

India won another penalty corner just minutes into the third quarter and striker Gurjot made the most of it to put his team in the lead. But Germany didn’t stay quiet for long as they equalized a few minutes later with a penalty corner, taking the game into the final quarter with nothing separating the two sides.

The visitors had the chance to regain the lead at the start of the final quarter, but were unable to score from a corner.

The Germans scored a penalty corner in the final moments of the game and took advantage to close the game 3-2 at the right time.

India will play their final match of the European tour against Germany in Breda, Netherlands on Wednesday.
