The search for the next coach of the Indian cricket team is underway and many names have emerged as options for the much-coveted role. Current coach Rahul Dravid’s tenure ends after the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup and media reports have suggested that the BCCI has already approached certain people for the role. The names considered favorites at the moment are Gautam Gambhir and Ashish Nehra, with less interest from foreign coaches. Amidst all the talk about the role, former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly took to social media to post an intriguing message.

The deadline for applications was May 27, but reports suggest that the BCCI is in no rush to select Dravid’s successor. The Indian cricket team’s players are currently focusing on the 2024 T20 World Cup and the report states that it is possible that coaches from the National Cricket Academy (NCA) could accompany the team on some future tours if no decision is made.
“The timing is good but the BCCI chiefs wouldn’t mind taking some more time before taking a decision. At the moment, the team will be busy with the World T20 for most of June. of trips to Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe where any of the NCA senior coaches can accompany the team, so what’s the rush,” a BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
