India x Pakistan – if the cricket competition is intense on the field, things are no less off the field. Sometimes, the fans’ enthusiasm overwhelms the stars on the field. Even broadcasters capitalize on the same (think of the ‘Mauk Mauka’ ad). The Indian cricket team and the Pakistan cricket team will face each other once again in the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 9. While India enjoys supremacy when it comes to head-to-head record, Pakistan are runners-up in the 2022 T20 World Cup.
Before the clash, India and Pakistan were locked in a war of words over a viral video that showed Pakistani players walking past a TV screen where the IPL final was being broadcast.

Ahead of the high-octane clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup on June 9, security coverage will be increased at New York’s Eisenhower Park stadium following reports of threats to the match, ESPNCricinfo reported. According to a statement from the governor’s office, the situation is being monitored and according to their information “there is no credible threat to public safety at this time”. Eisenhower Park Stadium, located 40 kilometers east of Manhattan, will host eight ICC T20 WC matches from June 3-12, including the battle between two Asian arch-rivals. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said she is working with law enforcement to ensure these games go off without a hitch.
“I have also directed the New York State Police to adopt heightened security measures, including an increased police presence, enhanced surveillance and thorough screening processes,” she said, as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
“Public safety is my top priority and we are committed to ensuring the Cricket World Cup is a safe and enjoyable experience,” she added.
ESPNCricinfo understands that no corroborative evidence was found by authorities to support the reported threat. But the International Cricket Council (ICC) said security will be “robust” throughout the tournament at all venues.
