The Indian cricket team secured a resounding 50-run victory against Bangladesh in their only friendly match ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Saturday. Most of the Indian batsmen rose to the occasion, while the bowling unit also put in a commanding display. All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also did reasonably well despite the dismal IPL 2024 campaign he had, conceding just 11 runs in his 2 overs and scoring 4 off 6 balls with the bat, although he would have preferred to do more.

When Jadeja was batting in the middle, the former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator refrained from saying much about the all-rounder, recalling past experiences where his comments about the player had gotten him into trouble.

It all happened when Jadeja survived a tough decision, with Manjrekar suggesting the decision should have gone in Bangladesh’s favour.

“He didn’t put his toes behind the line and only his toes, as you can see, are in contact with the ground. Now it’s Jadeja batting, so I better shut up,” he said as the other two commentators started laughing.

As for the match, India took advantage of wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant’s fluid half-century attack and quick pace bowlers to make an early statement in the T20 World Cup with a 60-run victory in a friendly match against Bangladesh.

“Very happy with the way things went, we got what we wanted from the game. It’s important to get used to the conditions. We haven’t finalized the batting line-up yet, we wanted most of the guys to bat in the middle (in Arshdeep Singh). He showed us that he has the initial skills and also the back-end skills, he has a very good skill set. We have a good 15 players here, we just need to set the conditions and pick the best,” Indian captain Rohit Sharma said in the post-match presentation.
