The 2024 T20 World Cup has already begun, with the USA vs Canada contest being the first match of the month-long event. The Indian cricket team, however, will have to wait a few more days to begin their tournament journey, with Rohit Sharma’s men scheduled to face Ireland in the opening game on June 5. side, Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag has suggested that he doesn’t even want to watch the T20 World Cup this time.

Parag, whose name was discussed among the T20 World Cup probables before the 15-man squad was announced, had a great campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024. However, there was no place for him in the Indian squad for the T20 World Cup, even among the reserves.

In an interview, Parag openly said that he would have worried about the T20 World Cup if he had been playing. This year, he doesn’t have much interest.

“It will be a biased answer (prediction about the four best teams), but to be honest, I don’t even want to watch the World Cup. I will only see who is winning at the end and I will be happy. When I play in the World Cup, I will think about the top four and all that,” Parag said in a chat with the Bharat Army.

Parag has been an intriguing character, making statements in interviews and on social media that have often found him being trolled. In this year’s IPL, he let his bat do most of the talking and the results were impressive. Recently, the Assam cricketer even spoke about his Team India ambitions, saying that at some point the selectors would have to accept him.

“At some point you have to sign me, right? So that’s my belief, I will play for India. I don’t care when,” Parag told PTI in an interview.
