India’s six-run victory over Pakistan in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 match on Sunday sent a wave of euphoria across the world, with fans of Rohit Sharma’s team celebrating extravagantly. India’s triumph in the game dealt Pakistan’s Super 8 qualification hopes a major blow, while India all but sealed their progression to the next stage. As celebrations of India’s victory broke out across the world, the Delhi Police shared a post on X, tagging the New York Police. The social media post went viral.

“Hey @NYPDnews. We heard two loud noises. One is “Indiaaa..India!” “And another is probably from broken televisions. Can you confirm?” the post said.

India capitalized on Jasprit Bumrah’s miserable three-wicket haul which put pressure on Pakistan’s batsmen and a counter-attack and match-saving knock from Rishabh Pant led India to a narrow victory at the packed Nassau County Stadium, which keeps India’s World Cup dreams alive with two more group stage games to go.

After the game ended and the tricolor shone at the Nassau County Stadium, in New York, the fans present wasted no time and began to dance energetically to the sound of its drums.

Sudhir Kumar Choudhary, a super fan of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Team India, was extremely happy with the performance of the Men in Blue bowlers in this historic encounter.

“It’s an unbelievable victory. When India scored 119 runs, I thought Pakistan would easily win this game. But this turned out to be a historic match. Bumrah and all the other players played well,” he told ANI.

Another fan said Bumrah’s pass changed the game and marked India’s return to the game.

“India’s comeback, especially Bumrah’s bowling, was special. Change the course of the game. We are very happy. It’s a great victory”, said the fan.

The fans thought the game was worth every second and were at the stadium since the morning and didn’t lose a single ball

“We’ve been here since the morning and this match was worth every second. It was India’s game,” said a fan.

However, the game left one Pakistani fan heartbroken, who sold his tractor to get a ticket worth $3,000.

“I sold my tractor to get a ticket worth $3,000. When we saw India’s score, we didn’t think we would lose this game. The game was in our hands, but after Babar Azam left, people got discouraged. Congratulations to everyone,” said the fan.

Even back home in Kolkata, a Team India fan expressed hope that they will bring the cup back home and end India’s wait for an ICC trophy.

“India always wins in a good way. The whole team played well and that’s why we won. The Indian team will take home the cup,” said the fan.
