For India, revenge is complete. After a heartbreaking defeat to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final, the Rohit Sharma-led team dealt a huge blow to the Mitchell Marsh-led team by defeating them in a Super 8 match in Saint Lucia. That defeat ultimately proved crucial in Australia’s exit from the T20 World Cup, as Afghanistan eliminated them on points with a victory over Bangladesh.

India’s victory over Australia was almost perfect. Rohit Sharma scored 92 off just 41 balls as India gave them a target of 206 runs. Although Travis Head and others gave Australia a quick start, they were unable to maintain the momentum and could only reach 181/7 in 20 overs.

However, there was a moment in the match when Hardik Pandya survived an injury scare, which happened when a pitch from Pant hit him. Pandya bowled a slower delivery to Mitchell Starc, who failed to connect. Pant picked up the ball and aimed for the stumps. The ball missed the stumps and hit Pandya’s hand. The star all-rounder was unhappy with the incident while Indian captain Rohit Sharma was frustrated.

After India’s strategic brilliance and adaptability to challenging conditions led them to a 24-run victory over Australia in the T20 World Cup Super match, pacer Arshdeep Singh credited Jasprit Bumrah for his brilliant bowling throughout the tournament .
Arshdeep dismissed the dangerous David Warner in the first over, setting the tone for India’s bowling attack. His crucial wickets of big hitters Tim David and Matthew Wade at the death were instrumental in delaying Australia’s chase.

With figures of 3 for 37, Arshdeep not only took the most wickets for India in the match, but also moved up to second place in the tournament’s wicket-taking charts with 15 wickets in six games, with Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi at the top with 16 wickets in seven games.

The 25-year-old left-arm pacer was quick to attribute much of his success to spearhead Bumrah. “I think a lot of credit goes to Jassi bhai (Jasprit Bumrah) because he puts a lot of pressure on the batsmen – he gives, what, three or four runs in an over – so the batsmen are coming hard at me, and I just have to try to bowl my best ball and there are many chances of getting wickets there,” said Arshdeep.

“On the other side, they see that the races are not coming and the sell rate is high, so they take more risks against me. [There’s a] there is always a chance of getting a wicket there. So a lot of credit for my wickets goes to Jassi bhai,” she added.

Skipper Rohit Sharma’s electrifying 41-ball 92, followed by contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, who made 31 off 16 balls, and Hardik Pandya, who added 27* off 17 vital balls, helped India post a formidable total of 205/5 in 20 balances.
