Team India broke their 10-year drought to reach the final of the T20 World Cup by defeating England by 68 runs in the semi-final of the 2024 edition on Thursday. India’s comprehensive victory triggered a wave of jubilation across the world, with Indians everywhere celebrating the feat. However, former England captain Michael Vaughan sparked a conspiracy theory suggesting that Guyana was an excellent ground for the Indian team, hence the result. But Indian great Harbhajan Singh was in no mood to sit and digest Vaughan’s verdict.

“If England had beaten SA, they would have got the Trinidad semi-final and I believe they would have won that game. So no complaints, they weren’t good enough. posted on X (formerly Twitter).

In response, Harbhajan said: “What makes you think Guyana was a good venue for India? Both teams played at the same venue. England won the toss which was an advantage. Stop being silly. England were defeated for India in all departments. Accept the fact and move on and keep your rubbish with yourself. Speak logic, not nonsense.

Vaughan has been very vocal about the change of venue for the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final. He also shared some posts before the start of the semi-final between India and England, suggesting that Rohit Sharma’s men were originally scheduled to play the semi-final in Trinidad, but the location was later changed to Guyana.

In his final post, however, Vaughan also admitted that India were a better team than England that day.

“India deserves to be in the final.. The best team in the tournament so far.. It has always been difficult for England on this pitch.. India is much better on slower pitches,” he said in another post.

“England will have lost 3 out of 4 games to the top teams so they can’t complain. playing on slower wickets…” concluded Vaughan.
