Suryakumar Yadav’s old tweet about PM Narendra Modi resurfaces amid 2024 T20 World Cup victory celebrations

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning Indian cricket team at his residence on Thursday. The Rohit Sharma-led team defeated South Africa in the final to clinch the title, but it was a bittersweet moment for Indian cricket as soon after the victory, the trio of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja announced their retirement from cricket T20I. However, the celebrations were huge for the team and they finally landed in New Delhi on Thursday morning after being stranded in Barbados due to bad weather. The Indian cricket team players traveled to PM Modi’s residence where they stayed till 1 pm and during this time, the cricketers had a calm conversation with PM Modi. Suryakumar Yadav was present at the meeting as part of the Indian cricket team and the 7-year-old star batsman’s social media post on X (Twitter) has resurfaced as the entire country celebrates the victory.

“Thank you sir @narendramodi Ji for this step. So happy to be a part of @swachhbharat. Maybe one day I’ll take a real selfie if I’m lucky. Haha,” he posted in 2017 along with a photo with PM Modi’s poster .

Meanwhile, BCCI president Roger Binny and secretary Jay Shah presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a special India ‘NAMO’ shirt after meeting him at 7 am, Lok Kalyan Marg, on Thursday.

PM Modi hosted the T20 World Cup winning team led by Rohit Sharma at his residence upon their arrival from Barbados.

Members of the Indian team, including coach Rahul Dravid, interacted with PM Modi. The team also showed the T20 World Cup trophy to the Prime Minister.

“The triumphant Indian Cricket Team today met with the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modiji, at his official residence. Sir, we extend our sincere gratitude to you for your inspiring words and the invaluable support you have provided to #TeamIndia” , the BCCI wrote in ‘X’ after the meeting with PM Modi.

After the meeting with PM Modi, the Indian team left for Mumbai, where the BCCI organized a 1km victory parade from Nariman Point to the Wankhede Stadium, where a small felicitation ceremony will take place.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who was present in Barbados for the final against South Africa on Saturday, will distribute the Rs 125 million prize money to the Indian team for winning their first ICC trophy in over a decade.
