Manchester United beat Real Madrid with the signing of Leny Yoro from Lille

Premier League team Manchester United have announced the signing of young defender Leny Yoro from Ligue 1 side Lille on a contract that runs until 2029. The club released an official statement to announce the signing of the 18-year-old defender, who it said: “Manchester United is pleased to confirm that Leny Yoro has joined the club, subject to registration. The French defender has signed a contract until June 2029, with the option of extending for a further year.

At 18 years old, Yoro has already played 60 games for Lille’s first team. Last season he was also included in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season. He played a key role in helping Lille finish fourth in the league last season.

“Signing for a club of Manchester United’s stature and ambition so early in my career is an incredible honor. From my first conversations with the club, they have set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project. , and showed a lot of affection for me and my family”, said Yoro after signing for Manchester United, as quoted in the club’s official statement.

“I know the history of the young players at Manchester United and I feel this could be the perfect place to fulfill my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I can’t wait to get started,” he added.

Manchester United sporting director Dan Ashworth believes the young defender has all the attributes that can help him become a top-class defender.

“Leny is one of the most exciting young defenders in world football; he has all the attributes needed to become a world-class defender. Having made an excellent start to his career, we are excited to support him in realizing his immense potential here at Manchester United,” said Ashworth.

“This club has a fantastic track record of developing young players, whether local or brought in from elsewhere, and giving them the guidance, time and patience they need to grow and flourish. Under Erik ten Hag and the our excellent team, we will ensure that Leny has the perfect platform to achieve the success that everyone at the club strives for,” he added.
