Indian archer Pravin Jadhav has been eliminated from the Paris Olympics after losing his opening men’s singles recurve clash in straight sets to Kao Wenchao of China on Thursday.

Jadhav lost 0-6 (28-29 29-30 27-28) in the round of 16.

Although Jadhav shot four 10s throughout the match, the Chinese archer managed to outscore the Indian by a point in each of the three sets.

With Jadhav’s defeat, India’s campaign in the men’s singles event ended with veterans Tarundeep Rai and Dhiraj Boomadevara missing their respective qualifiers earlier this week.

Experienced 18-year-olds Deepika Kumari and Bhajan Kaur remain in contention in the women’s singles event and will be in action in the pre-quarterfinals on Saturday.

The Indian men’s and women’s teams were eliminated in the quarterfinals earlier in the tournament.
