Indian shooter Manu Bhaker, who was aiming for a hat-trick of Olympic medals here, performed excellently in the 25m sports pistol, finishing second in qualifying and securing a place in the final at Chateauroux on Friday. The 22-year-old shooter, who already has two bronze medals in her kitty in the women’s 10m air pistol and the mixed 10m air pistol team along with Sarabjot Singh, shot an incredible 294 in the ‘precision’ round and was even more threatening in the quick round to score 296 and aggregate 590.

She is just two points behind leader Veronika Major of Hungary, who shot a total of 592 (294 and 298), which helped her equal the Olympic record.

India has won all three medals so far in shooting, with Manu winning two and Swapnil Kusale taking bronze in the three-position 50m rifle on Thursday.
