India’s Nethra Kumanan had a tough day in office in the opening series of the women’s dinghy sailing event at the Paris Olympics as she dropped to 24th place after race 6 in Marseille, France, on Saturday. After finishing 11th after three races on Friday, the 26-year-old dropped to 24th after three more races on Saturday. While Nethra was placed 19th after race 4, she dropped to 25th after race 5 before regaining her composure and finishing one position higher after race 6. As for the men’s dinghy event, Vishnu Saravanan was placed 23rd after race 6 on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Indian was in 22nd place after Race 4 on Friday, but on Saturday he lost a place in Race 5, remaining there after Race 6.

There are four more races remaining in the opening series across both events, with Race 7 and Race 8 to be held on Sunday, followed by two more on Monday.

The top 10 boats from the opening series will take part in the medal regatta on Tuesday.

The three best boats will be decided based on the overall score from the opening and final series.
