Two-time world champion Shericka Jackson withdrew from the Olympic 200m qualifiers on Sunday, in another blow to the Jamaican team. The withdrawal of Jackson, who had already withdrawn from the 100m won by Julien Alfred, of Saint Lucia, on Saturday, follows that of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce in the blue ribbon race. Jackson’s non-appearance in the qualifiers was only made evident by the late addition of “DNS” (Did Not Start) next to her name on the official match sheet.

The semi-finals are scheduled for 18:45 GMT on Monday, with the final scheduled for 1940 on Tuesday.

Jackson, 30, described his decision to skip the 100m as a “good decision”.

“You have to do what’s best for your body, your mind and your soul. I’m okay with the decision.”

Jackson’s teammate Elaine Thompson-Herah, absent from Paris due to injury, won the 100m and 200m at the Tokyo Olympics.
