TAMPA Bay Rays broadcasters believe why a baseball fan wore a clown outfit — and they might be right.
TV cameras caught an MLB fan dressed as a clown during the Rays-Houston Astros game game on Monday night.
The Rays were down 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Tampa Bay’s Bally Sports Sun live television the broadcast showed a Rays fan standing in the stands with clown face makeup.
The fan was shown talking to a friend while also wearing a clown wig with a Rays hat on top.
Tampa Bay TV analyst Doug Waechter was speechless when the baseball fan appeared on the screen.
The TV analyst then guessed why the fan was wearing the clown costume.
“Probably came in last place and had to clown into the game,” Waechter said.
“He looks really sad too.
“That’s not a happy clown.”
Waechter’s guess that the fan had the worst record of his fantasy soccer league last year and was punished for the failure seemed to be right.
The MLB fan’s white shirt could read in rainbow colors: “I suck at fantasy.”
Fans Were Hysterical Over Rays Fan’s Clown Outfit social media.
“This is brutal,” commented one.
“Don’t miss out on fantasy football” wrote another.
“He’s talking to a woman so it doesn’t look like he’s in too bad haha,” a third added.
A Rays fan seemed to take a page out of someone else’s book when a Chicago Cubs fan wore a clown outfit to an MLB game last month.
And the fan wore a clown costume in the stands at Wrigley Field that said, “I suck at fantasy football.”
Fantasy Football punishments have been a trend in the age of social media.
With the NFL season upon us, fans are taking advantage of the possibility of going viral at baseball games.
Still, those same fans probably wish they weren’t in last place in fantasy football.
